Mookie Betts - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

There is only one day game Friday, leaving us with a bevy of night games to enjoy. That also means that we have a ton of options to wade through on DraftKings and FanDuel.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 5/31/2024, with the slate starting at 7:05 p.m. EDT. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Tanner Houck vs. DET ($9,600 DraftKings; $10,600 FanDuel)

Houck has been excellent for the Red Sox, recording a 1.90 ERA that is backed by a 2.13 FIP. He has given up just one home run over 71 innings, while also showing improved control with his 4.6 percent walk rate. Even his 24.4 percent strikeout rate is three percentage points higher than last season. That’s noteworthy for a matchup versus a Tigers team that has struck out the 10th-most times in baseball.

Reynaldo Lopez vs. OAK ($8,600 DraftKings; $9,000 FanDuel)

After working exclusively out of the bullpen last season, the Braves are looking to give Lopez added rest when they can. He hasn’t pitched since May 25, so he will be fresh for this outing. He has certainly taken to his new starting role, recording a 1.75 ERA and a 2.86 FIP. Up next is a great matchup against the Athletics, who have scored the fifth-fewest runs and struck out the second-most times in baseball.

Jordan Montgomery at NYM ($7,800 DraftKings; $8,500 FanDuel)

The Diamondbacks would love to get some length from Montgomery after Zac Gallen (hamstring) left in the first inning Thursday. Coming into this matchup, Montgomery has already logged at least six innings in five of his seven starts. The Mets have the worst home OPS in baseball, so Montgomery is an appealing option who has reasonable salaries on both sites.

Also consider: Marcus Stroman at SF, Jose Soriano at SEA

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Mookie Betts – SS, LAD vs. Dakota Hudson ($5,900 DK; $4,300 FD)

The Dodgers could score in bunches against Hudson, who has a 5.54 ERA and a 5.15 FIP. He has issued as many walks as he has strikeouts, which is a recipe for disaster against the loaded Dodgers lineup. A top option for any Dodgers stack should be Betts, who has followed up his 1.094 OPS at home last season with a .993 OPS at home this year.

Ryan Mountcastle – 1B, BAL vs. Aaron Civale ($4,800 DK; $3,100 FD)

Civale has had problems keeping batters inside the ballpark, giving up 1.8 HR/9. He also has a 1.34 WHIP that is on pace to be the highest mark of his career. Not only is Civale a favorable matchup for Mountcastle, but it also works in his favor that this game will be played in Baltimore. Mountcastle has a career .210 ISO and .342 wOBA at home, compared to a .179 ISO and a .323 wOBA on the road.

Jorge Mateo – 2B/SS/OF, BAL vs. Aaron Civale ($3,800 DK; $2,700 FD)

Stacking the Orioles against Civale should be a popular strategy. A member of their lineup with a cheaper salary to target is Mateo, who has back-to-back seasons with at least 32 stolen bases. He has already swiped 10 bases this season and is on pace to set a new career high with his .734 OPS.

Also consider: Jose Ramirez, Freddie Freeman, Rafael Devers

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Adolis Garcia - OF, TEX vs. Sixto Sanchez ($5,600 DK; $3,800 FD)

Sanchez is starting to get more stretched out, throwing at least 76 pitches in each of his last three games. However, he allowed 10 runs (seven earned) across 13.2 innings in those three outings. For the season, he has a bloated 1.64 WHIP, issuing nearly as many walks (13) as he has strikeouts (17). One of the most dangerous hitters to consider on the Rangers is Garcia, who has slugged 12 home runs on his way to a .231 ISO.

David Fry – OF/C/1B, CLE vs. Patrick Corbin ($5,000 DK; $3,500 FD)

If Corbin didn’t have such a bloated contract, he likely wouldn’t still be starting for the Nationals. He has a 6.12 ERA and a 5.02 FIP, putting him on pace to have an ERA of at least 5.20 and a FIP of at least 5.00 for the third time over the last four seasons. He is barely missing any bats, registering a 13.2 percent strikeout rate this year. He’ll have his hands full against Fry, who has a staggering .562 wOBA against left-handed pitchers this year.

Leody Taveras – OF, TEX vs. Sixto Sanchez ($3,400 DK; $2,800 FD)

While Garcia and Corey Seager are both great options against Sanchez, their salaries will also do a number on your budget. A player who can help potentially offset that, while also providing some upside, is Taveras. He has started to heat up a bit at the plate, hitting 9-for-31 (.290) with a home run and a double over his last eight games.

Also consider: Shohei Ohtani, Marcell Ozuna, Tyler Freeman
