Panthers running back (RB) Mike Davis is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup to target as a free agent addition for Week 3 of the 2020 NFL season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED: 1% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Looking at Carolina's fantasy numbers through two weeks of play you'll get it quickly: it's Christian McCaffrey, and then (maybe) come the rest. CMC tallies read 28.4 and 24.8 PPR points in back-to-back weeks. He reached the latter mark in a game that he had to leave before it was over. That's just insane. But that is also promising for Mike Davis, the Panthers RB2 this season, if CMC goes on to lose time at least next weekend.
That might be wrong, though. Calling Mike Davis a "running back", I mean. Davis only carried the ball one time for one yard this past Sunday after doing nothing in Week 1 (no targets, no carries). What Davis did, though, was to thrive on the passing game. Davis got eight targets, hauled in all eight of them, and his yards by game's end read 74. He didn't score, but hey, so didn't CMC I guess.
Now, realistically, Davis is the ultimate desperation-add and you should only consider getting him if you can do so for free and if you really trust CMC missing time (in 2020 that is more than probable given how easily guys are falling down). Although the injury is not expected to be serious, it is a bummed ankle so it will impact CMC's game even if the problems are minimal. Davis is also a true pass-catching back so he should still get chances going forward given what he did this past Sunday.
