Fantasy Football Playoffs Kicker Rankings Outlooks
Jake Bates, Detroit Lions
Across 15 games this season, Detroit Lions kicker Jake Bates has converted on 22 of 28 field goal attempts and 52 out of 54 extra-point tries. Bates has the benefit of being tied to the Detroit offense, which enters Week 17 ranked second in the NFL in points per game (30.1). However, Bates and the Lions will face one of the league's top scoring defenses in Week 17 when they travel to Minnesota to take on the Vikings.
Over the last three weeks, Minnesota has allowed opponents to score an average of just 13 points per game. In the first matchup between the two NFC North division rivals this season in Week 9, the Lions were held to 24 points, their fourth-lowest mark in a game in 2025. If there's one benefit for Bates, the game will be played indoors, which eliminates any weather concerns for the kicking game.
Bates remains a viable starting kicker for fantasy managers in Week 17, but he profiles as a low-end option rather than a must-start player at the position against Minnesota.
Harrison Butker, Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker nailed three of his four field goal attempts and did not attempt a single extra-point since the Chiefs did not find the end zone in last week's loss to the Tennessee Titans. Butker and the Chiefs could be in for another low-scoring affair in Week 17 against the Denver Broncos.
The Broncos defense has allowed the fifth-fewest points per game this season, and with Chris Oladokun leading the offense, the Chiefs could have a tough time scoring any points on Christmas. Butker has now missed a kick in eight of his 15 games this season, making him a tough kicker to trust even with optimal conditions.
Butker is ranked K27 in our RotoBaller rankings, making him a low-end option at the position this week.
Wil Lutz, Denver Broncos
Denver Broncos kicker Wil Lutz will look to replicate his Week 11 performance against the Kansas City Chiefs when traveling to face them again in Week 17. In that Week 11 performance, Lutz had 16 total points from making all five of his field goal attempts and converting his lone PAT attempt.
While it's difficult to predict that type of performance again since this was an outlier in his season, Lutz is also coming off a game in which he missed one of the shortest tries out of his three field goal attempts against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Ranked as RotoBaller's 18th best kicker on the week, there are likely other options for managers to rely on in Week 17.
Will Reichard, Minnesota Vikings
Ironically, given the tortured history of the Minnesota Vikings, the most consistent thing about their 2025 season has been kicker Will Reichard, who can once again be considered a fantasy lineup option for a Christmas Day matchup against Detroit.
The Alabama alum is a perfect 18-for-18 on field goals inside 50 yards this year, 28-for-28 on extra points, and 27-for-29 on field goal attempts overall. The Lions rank 27th against fantasy kickers, although Minnesota will be starting Max Brosmer at quarterback due to an injury to J.J. McCarthy (hand).
Ranked as RotoBaller's No. 11 kicker this week, Reichard comes with the notable risk of an offense led by an undrafted rookie. But he's ultimately up against a bad defense, playing indoors, and in terrific form, giving him lineup potential.
