Kenyon Martin Jr. is worth considering as a fantasy basketball waiver wire pickup heading into Week 18 of the 2022-23 NBA season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 15% of leagues
ANALYSIS: I don't think Kenyon Martin Jr. is any hidden gem anymore, but here I am writing about him as part of my weekly WW targets because he's still somehow rostered in just 15% of all ESPN leagues being played out there. Seriously. You can do much, much better, folks.
Martin has started all last 15 games he's played in a row. He's played an average of 32 MPG in that span while only falling behind 31 MP twice (27 minutes in those two outings at the end of January). He's getting usage rates rather mediocre and below average (15.6 percent), yet he's still getting 14-7-2 lines on a daily basis while shooting a viable 9+ FGA per game and hitting nearly 60% of them.
Don't expect to bag a lot of long-range shots by adding this young man. He can hit the odd three-point shot (0.9 3PM per game this season) but it's not that he's mad at hosting them nor hitting paydirt when he does (2.9 3PA per game succeeding at a 33.6% clip).
The 11-5 with fewer than two TOPG season-long averages are excellent for someone getting 26 MPG, as only two other players (Valanciunas and Thomas Bryant) are putting up those numbers while on a similar play-time diet.
His recent production (14-7-2 with just 1.2 TOPG) since getting into the starting unit is much better for fantasy purposes and only mimicked by one player in the whole NBA this season: Nikola Vucevic.
