Should I start Kayshon Boutte, Stefon Diggs, Khalil Shakir for Week 2? Fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks and recommendations for the 2025 NFL season.
New England Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte (shoulder), fellow Patriots WR Stefon Diggs, and Buffalo Bills slot receiver Khalil Shakir are three receivers fantasy managers might be considering putting in their starting lineups for fantasy football in Week 2.
Obviously, Boutte and Diggs being on the same team might make start/sit decisions for the two more difficult. Shakir, on the other hand, was a bit of a surprise player in 2024, having outperformed his expectations and having a nice game in Week 1.
The offenses they play in, the quarterbacks they catch passes from, the potential game scripts that are coming up in their Week 2 matchups, and other factors will all play a role in making the right decisions and determining their fantasy football outlooks for Week 2. So should you start Boutte, Diggs, and Shakir in Week 2?

Should I Start Kayshon Boutte for Fantasy Football?
Boutte is currently dealing with a shoulder injury, for starters. He was limited at his team's practice on Wednesday. This will be a situation to monitor, but there haven't been indications that it's a serious ailment. Boutte had a surprise, strong game in Week 1, catching six of his eight targets for 103 yards.

I admittedly wasn't high on Boutte entering the season. I thought he would play second fiddle to Diggs, and that rookie Kyle Williams would establish a role quickly. Williams might have brick hands because he hasn't gotten much playing time. But for now, Boutte appears to be the Patriots' WR1.
He's probably worth starting in Week 2 as a flex player if you're in need of another receiver. Diggs' continuing recovery and subsequent heavier involvement in the game plan could throw a wrench in these plans, though. With quarterback Drake Maye throwing 46 passes in Week 1, the game could have been an aberration.
Still, especially in deeper leagues, Boutte is worth starting.
Should I Start Stefon Diggs for Fantasy Football?
Diggs wasn't on the field a lot. He played 41 percent of the team's snaps, half of what Boutte logged, yet he was targeted seven times, catching six passes for 57 yards. As his knee continues to heal, he figures to become more involved in the team's offense. Having just one fewer target despite playing so many fewer snaps than Boutte was encouraging.
Diggs was targeted on 21 percent of his routes run, which actually bested Boutte's rate of 0.20 TPRR and was just behind tight end Hunter Henry's TPRR of 0.22. This number could remain steady, though -- it's likely that Diggs will run more routes moving forward as his ACL continues to improve.

He's been ahead of schedule on his recovery, and should settle in to comfortably being the team's WR1 by midseason. The team's ultra-high pass rate might not hold, but like Boutte, he should be a solid start in your flex spot in leagues with 12 or more teams for Week 2.
Should I Start Khalil Shakir for Fantasy Football?
Shakir was targeted nine times in the team's win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1. He hauled in six of those passes for 64 yards, totaling 12.4 PPR fantasy points. He's the team's starting slot receiver and played 71 percent of offensive snaps, so he's nicely involved.
The Bills will play the New York Jets next week, who narrowly lost a shootout game with the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1. This bodes well for Shakir's potential production, and he's a decent player to start in deeper leagues, but he has a low ceiling due to low touchdown equity and low average depth of target.
In PPR leagues with 12 or more teams, he's not a bad player to put in your flex.
