Josh Downs is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for wide receivers. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 9 of the 2024 NFL season.

ANALYSIS: From a pure talent perspective, Josh Downs is an absolute baller. But unfortunately, due to inconsistent quarterback play, Downs' fantasy production has also suffered as evidenced by his career splits with and without quarterback Joe Flacco under center.
In three games with Flacco, Downs averaged 19.2 PPR points per game, averaging ten targets and eight receptions for 72.3 yards per game alongside 0.67 touchdowns. Without Flacco, that number has dipped to just 8.61 PPR points per game with 5.58 targets and 3.79 receptions for 41.9 yards and just 0.11 touchdowns.

On Sunday against the Houston Texans, Downs saw nine targets to finish with four receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown, but the majority of his yardage came on a 69-yard play.
Until quarterback Anthony Richardson improves or Flacco is under center, we can't expect a lot from Downs on a weekly basis. He's worth rostering, but not starting at this point.
