Week 7 Defense (DST) Rankings Outlooks
Kansas City Chiefs D/ST
The Kansas City Chiefs' defense will face the Las Vegas Raiders at home in Week 7. The Chiefs' defensive unit held the Detroit Lions to just 17 points in Week 6, but their fantasy output was mediocre because they recorded one sack and zero takeaways. In their previous five games, the Kansas City defense recorded six takeaways and 12 sacks, so they should bounce back against Las Vegas. Raiders quarterback Geno Smith leads the NFL in interceptions and is third in sacks taken this season, making this a smash spot for the Chiefs. The Kansas City defense is ranked as the third-best defense in our RotoBaller rankings, making them a must-start unit this week.
Cleveland Browns D/ST
The Cleveland Browns defense will return home to face off against the Miami Dolphins in Week 7. Cleveland struggled against the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road in Week 6, failing to notch any sacks or force any turnovers in the 23-9 loss. They will look to regroup against a Miami offense that is allowing the 15th-most fantasy points per game to fantasy D/STs this year. This game has an extremely low over/under of 36 points with the Browns set as 2.5-point favorites. While not a smash play, the Browns D/ST is worth starting as a top-12 fantasy option in Week 7.
Green Bay Packers D/ST
The Green Bay Packers' defense and special teams unit started the season strong with two straight games with four sacks each. In the last three games against the Browns, Cowboys, and Bengals, their D/ST has just four sacks total. They will look to get back to work in Week 7 as the Packers go on the road to face the Arizona Cardinals. Their matchup is plenty favorable as the Packers will either be facing a returning Kyler Murray (foot), who is on the injury report as questionable, or backup signal-caller Jacoby Brissett. Even though the Packers' defense has lost a bit of its early-season luster, they are still a good fantasy D/ST option in Week 7, no matter who starts at quarterback for the Cardinals.
Philadelphia Eagles D/ST
The Eagles' defense/special teams unit allowed rookies Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo to put up 34 points last Thursday while also forcing no turnovers and just two sacks. In Week 7 Philadelphia is up against the Vikings, who are averaging 30 points per game during the three-week tenure of Carson Wentz. This defense hasn't performed well in their last two contests, both of which resulted in losses. But, they are one of the strongest teams in the league and should get back on track this Sunday. Plus, Minnesota has nine giveaways this season, which is tied for sixth-most in the league. It's not the most promising pick for a fantasy start, but the Eagles are still worth a lineup spot.
Miami Dolphins D/ST
The Miami Dolphins defense has a good matchup in Week 7 as they visit the Browns in Cleveland, and they can be a solid fringe starting unit in most leagues as a result. Last week, the Dolphins had a sack and a fumble recovery against the Chargers, but gave up 29 points in their loss. They have five fumble recoveries as part of their six takaways in he last three games, but they only have one interception all season. RotoBaller ranks the Dolphins as the No. 13 defense this week since they're taking on the Browns, who have allowed multiple sacks in every game this season, along with eight turnovers in six games. The Browns haven't scored 20 points in any game this season, and Miami's defense will look to continue their offensive struggles under rookie QB Dillon Gabriel, who is still searching for his first NFL win.
