DraftKings Lineup Picks & Sleepers (06/05/17): MLB DFS Advice

The start of a new week brings a very small slate for DraftKings Monday. With just seven games on the schedule the options are limited compared to most days. All games are in the evening, so the following targets will be good for any contest start time. DraftKings has introduced the Arcade mode, but I put together the target list with the traditional lineup in mind.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 6/5/17. The DFS lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays on DraftKings.

You can read our FanDuel and Yahoo DFS lineup picks as well. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @barryleonardjr.

DFS Lineup Stacks to Target on DraftKings

Houston versus Ian Kennedy (RHP)

Ian Kennedy is in the middle of a terrible slump. He lasted just three innings in his last outing and allowed five earned runs. He's lasted just 10 innings over his last three starts with 14 earned runs. Those numbers should make an already potent Houston lineup even better. This one will be expensive, but the Astros feature several great options throughout the lineup. Carlos Beltran and Brian McCann both have a good history against Kennedy. It'll be hard to go wrong with any of the Astros Monday, but try to fit Carlos Correa or Jose Altuve into your lineup as well.

Cincinnati versus Carlos Martinez (RHP)

There don't seem to be many stacking up that stand out for Monday's slate, so the Reds at home make for a good option. Cincinnati still ranks in the top 10 in team batting. Zack Cozart has been a nice surprise this year and has put up some consistent numbers. Lefty Scooter Gennett makes for a sneaky option against righty Carlos Martinez. One player to definitely not fade is Joey Votto. The slugger is always a threat to go deep, especially when facing a right-hander. The switch-hitting Billy Hamilton also makes for a great play thanks to his ability to steal bases. As a team, the Reds own a .283 lifetime average against Martinez.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider on DraftKings

Mike Fiers, HOU at KC ($7,500)

This one is a sleeper and purely based on that fact that Houston has a great chance to put up some big offensive numbers (see stacking options above). Also, the Royals are ranked dead last in the league in team batting. Mike Fiers is 2-2 with a 4.96 ERA on the season, but that doesn't matter on a daily basis. He's won his last start, allowing just two runs against the Twins.

Dan Straily, MIA at CHC ($9,100)

Monday definitely presents a challenge of finding the right pitcher. With very few attractive options, I'm going with who has been hot lately. Dan Straily fits that category, as he has picked up victories in each of his last three starts and has lowered his ERA from 4.65 to 3.56 in the last month. There's definitely some risk in this one, as the Cubs at Wrigley are tough, but you'll have to take a few risks Monday in order to be successful.

DFS Infielders to Consider on DraftKings

Catcher (C)

Buster Posey, SF at MIL ($4,100)

Buster Posey has quietly gone about his business this season and is currently sitting with an average of .343. The veteran catcher seems to get overlooked in some daily contests, but he shouldn't. He's averaging eight points a game on DraftKings and enters Monday with a six-game hit streak. Don't forget about Posey when selecting your lineup, as he's a safe bet for some solid production on a nightly basis.

First Base (1B)

Ryan Zimmerman, WAS at LAD ($5,200)

Ryan Zimmerman continued his hot start to 2017 Sunday with three hits, including a home run, a double, and three RBI against the Athletics. He's now hitting .374 on the year with 16 homers. Zimmerman is the most expensive first baseman available Monday, but his production is well worth paying the high price. He's hit .405 against lefties this season, so a matchup with left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu plays into Zimmerman's favor.

Second Base (2B)

Jed Lowrie, OAK vs TOR ($3,800)

Jed Lowrie has had a surprisingly good season so far, hitting .293 with seven home runs. He collected a hit on Sunday and rounded out an excellent weekend that saw him record four hits, including two doubles and a home run, over his last two games. He's 6-for-14 lifetime against opposing starter J.A. Happ and makes for an interesting sleeper pick at second base Monday.

Shortstop (SS)

Corey Seager, LAD vs WAS ($4,000)

Corey Seager is among the best shortstops on the board Monday night with an average of eight DraftKings points per game. He has gone hitless in his last two games, and faces a lefty-on-lefty matchup with Gio Gonzalez Monday, but that should only help to keep his ownership down. Seager is hitting .271 on the year with seven home runs and an OBP of .382. Despite the recent slump, the LA shortstop has proven this year that he's a solid selection for daily lineups.

Third Base (3B)

Ryon Healy, OAK vs TOR ($3,800)

Ryan Healy, who has been solid from a fantasy standpoint all season, has really turned it on lately, hitting .407 with three home runs in the past seven days. He crushed two bombs Saturday and picked up an RBI single Sunday. Healy has raked against left-handed pitching this year to the tune of a .383 average and all of his home runs, so take him Monday against lefty J.A. Happ and enjoy the production.

DFS Outfielders to Consider on DraftKings

Giancarlo Stanton, MIA at CHC ($5,100)

Giancarlo Stanton continues to be a slugger and a good choice for fantasy lineups on most days. He hit .474 in the last week and is a threat to go deep each time he's at the plate. He has only faced Eddie Butler eight times in his career, but has a home run and five total hits against him. Stanton will cost you, but the production is worth it, particularly in the Arcade mode where home runs are even more valuable. The Miami slugger enters Monday with a seven-game hit streak.

Denard Span, SFG at MIL ($3,900)

Denard Span has proven to still have plenty of value this season in daily lineups. He does run the risk of going through stretches of game without getting a hit, but he recently had a five-hit game that provided big production for his fantasy owners. Span has had most of his success against right-handers this season, so Monday presents a favorable matchup with righty Junior Guerra. Span's ownership is usually on the low end, so any production he provides becomes an added bonus, particular in tournament play.

Scooter Gennett, CIN vs STL ($3,500)

Gennett has really struggled over the past week and just went 0-for-5 Sunday. However, he still makes for a great sleeper pick Monday night. He's still hitting a decent average for the season (.269) and has a good history against righty Carlos Martinez with a lifetime average of .304 and a homeroom against him. Gennett has been good against righties this year, hitting over .300 with an OPS of .829. He can also slot in at the second base position in your lineup if needed.
