DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks (8/22/16): MLB DFS Advice

Only eight games are on Monday's slate, so options at certain positions, particularly pitcher, will be a bit limited. Still, DraftKings has contests using all of the evening games, or just the later ones. Note that the afternoon game between the Dodgers and the Reds is not included in the DraftKings contests.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball MLB lineup picks for DraftKings on 8/22/16. The DFS lineup picks will range from high-priced to low-priced options and identify options who will out-perform their expectations, including sleepers and value plays on DraftKings. The following targets have been selected for all day contests on DraftKings.

DFS Lineup Stacks to Target on DraftKings

Chicago Cubs vs. Edwin Jackson (RHP)

A potent lineup against a struggling pitcher sets up the perfect situation for a lineup stack. The Cubs get Edwin Jackson after he gave up eight runs in just four innings. Current Chicago hitters have a .299 lifetime average against him with four home runs. You won't be able to fit all of the good hitters, but if you're looking for a stack, try to get at least three or so Cubs in your lineup.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Mike Foltynewicz  (RHP)

On a night in which there are some limited options, it could be a bit difficult to find the best stack. Not many stand out, but don't overlook Arizona. The Diamondbacks are in a good spot against Atlanta's Mike Foltynewicz. He's brings an ERA of 4.91 in August and has given up a total of six runs in his last two starts. With an average of .390 and three home runs, current Arizona hitters have fared well against him. Jake Lamb, Chris Owings, and Yasmany Tomas stand out as ones to targer.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider on DraftKings

Zack Godley, ARI vs. ATL - $5,500

With some high-priced hitters considered must-starts tonight you are going to have to find value at pitcher. One guy to target is Arizona's Zack Godley. He was sharp in his last outing, limiting the Mets to just two runs on five hits in 7.1 innings of work. There's risk here considering his 4.85 ERA and the fact that the win his last time out was his first since July 24. Still, Godley is relevant for fantasy lineups tonight with a very favorable home matchup against Atlanta.

Jon Lester, CHC at SD - $12,500

A great hitter in a pitcher-friendly ballpark is what you get with Jon Lester tonight. He's got a good shot for a win considering that the Cubs gets a favorable matchup with Edwin Jackson. Lester is 4-0 in his last six starts and has posted an ERA of 2.29 in the month of August. Current Padres have a lifetime .209 against him, making Lester one of the top options available tonight.

DFS Infielders to Consider on DraftKings

Catcher (C)

Miguel Montero, CHC at SD - $3,300

Montero isn't always in the starting lineup, so just be sure to confirm his status prior to the start of the game. He enters tonight with a great history against opposing starter Edwin Jackson, having gone s6-for-15 with an average of .400 and a home run. Montero is hitting below .200 for the season, but he's been valuable to daily owners when the matchup is right.

First Base (1B)

Daniel Descalso, COL at MIL - $3,300

Descalso has been a daily fantasy gem on some occasions this year. Although he has cooled down a bit, he's still hitting .276 for the season and has an average of five fantasy points a game. That's more than serviceable for a guy who has a price tag under $3,500. He'll be going against a righty today, having hit .298 with all three of his home runs against right-handed pitching.

Second Base (2B)

Daniel Murphy, WAS vs. BAL - $5,300

With a righty on the mound tonight, the left-handed Daniel Murphy makes for a great selection. He's hit righties to the tune of .362 this season and has an overall average of .345. Murphy has continued to be one of the best fantasy second baseman available and is a must-start despite the high price tag.

Shortstop (SS)

Manny Machado, BAL at WAS - $4,500

Machado has continued his hot season and is hitting .307 in August. He has a bit of a tough matchup with Stephen Strasburg today, but is actually 3-for-3 against him. Though it's a small sample size, Machado is worth paying for today. He's one of the top hitters available and can slot in at either shortstop or third base.

Third Base (3B)

Matt Duffy, TB vs. BOS - $3,000

Duffy has been in and out of the lineup, but has done a good job when he's been on the field for the Rays. He's just 1-for-7 lifetime against opposing starter David Price, but don't let that deter you. He's still a good value pick, especially considering his average of six fantasy points a game. He's hitting .370 in August, so the potential for solid production tonight is there.

.

DFS Outfielders to Consider on DraftKings

Yasmany Tomas, ARI vs. ATL - $4,200

As mentioned above, Tomas and his teammates get a good matchup with Mike Foltynewicz tonight. Tomas is 2-for-3 lifetime against the righty and should be targeted for your daily lineup. He's been a bit inconsistent this year, but has still managed to be a solid producer in daily leagues with an average of nearly eight fantasy points a game

Leonys Martin, SEA vs. NYY- $3,600

Martin has been slumping this month, but things have gotten better in the last week. He enters tonight with a seven-game hit streak, including a homer run Sunday and an average over .300 in the last week. He's been a fantasy stud recently, putting up at least 12 fantasy points in four of his last five games.

Nelson Cruz, SEA vs. NYY - $4,200

With a four-game hit streak, including two multi-hit games in his last three contests, and a .287 average for the season, Nelson Cruz is typically a solid selection for fantasy lineups. He has put up double-digit fantasy points twice in his last four contests and is averaging nine points a game this season. He's tied for fourth in the league with 31 home runs and needs to be started tonight.
