Recent Update

6/26:Mariners center fielder Leonys Martin had three of the Mariners' ten hits on Saturday while batting out of the leadoff spot, helping Seattle eke out a 5-4 win over the Cardinals. Martin also scored a run in the second inning on a groundout by Kyle Seager, scoring the last and decisive run for Seattle, as their bats went cold for the final seven innings. Martin apparently really enjoys hitting out of the leadoff spot, as he carries a .400 average and .994 OPS with him when he hits in the #1 spot. Martin generally only hits in that spot against right-handers, however, and the Mariners are set to face lefties over the next two days. He will likely hit near the bottom of the lineup when the Mariners face Jaime Garcia in today's series finale, and then again on Tuesday when the Mariners face Jon Niese and the Pirates.--Nick Schumacher - RotoBaller
