The Panthers will face the New Orleans Saints in Week 1. While Johnson's talent is undeniable, starting him in Week 1 against the Saints may not be the best strategy. The Saints defense is known for being particularly tough on opposing wide receivers, with a strong secondary that excels at limiting big plays.
Additionally, Johnson is still acclimating to a new system with the Panthers, and the chemistry with his new quarterback might still need to be fully developed. The Saints' defensive schemes could make it challenging for Johnson to find open lanes, especially in his first game with the team.
Given these factors, it might be wise to consider other options for Week 1 until Johnson finds his footing in the Panthers offense. Johnson is an acceptable start in deeper leagues, but fantasy managers shouldn't view him higher than a WR3 for Week 1.
