Daily Pitcher Matchup Ratings Tool Top Plays

Jacob deGrom (NYM) vs PHI

FanDuel - $11,000 / DraftKings - $12,300

Best pitcher on the board, with the highest K/9 among today's starters, against the worst offense in baseball not named the Padres. The only risk here is deGrom's wife is due any day with their first child, which means he would miss the start. Good news is this is the first game of the day so news should spread before lineups lock.

Jaime Garcia (STL) @ ATL

FanDuel - $8,900 / DraftKings - $9,400

The system loves the porous Braves offense plus pitcher-friendly Turner Field. His low K/9 on the road (5.9 K/9) makes this a pass for me given the price tag.

Max’s Value Plays of the Day

Marcus Stroman (TOR) vs BOS

FanDuel - $8,100 / DraftKings - $9,100

What in the world is FanDuel thinking. The numbers don't indicate it (8 IP, 3 ER, 5 K) but Stroman was dominant in his season debut. Look for Stroman to channel the Opening Night crowd in Toronto and deliver a masterful performance versus a hot Red Sox lineup.

Yordano Ventura (KC) vs MIN

FanDuel - $8,700 / DraftKings - $9,200

Ventura comes at a higher price thanks to his easier matchup and higher strikeout potential. That should lead to lower ownership, making him a nice tourney play. Only two Twins have had success versus Ventura (Brian Dozier, Eduardo Escobar) too.

Matt Shoemaker (LAA) vs TEX

FanDuel - $7,700 / DraftKings - $6,200

Love Shoemaker as an SP2 on DraftKings. Recall that Shoemaker had a 3.35 ERA in 2014 and has held the Rangers in check in his career. Bargain bin pricing and a solid K/9 (9.2) at home makes him a play on this Friday.

Starting Pitchers to Fade in Daily Fantasy Baseball

Francisco Liriano (PIT) @ CIN

FanDuel - $9,900 / DraftKings - $10,300

Love the strikeouts, hate the price tag. Liriano punched out 10 in his debut but his erratic command diminishes some value. He had a 22/4 K/BB ratio versus Cincinnati last year, but ownership will likely be high thanks to his debut, making him a fade today.

Jordan Zimmermann (DET) vs NYY

FanDuel - $8,900 / DraftKings - $9,100

The Yankees have scored 24 runs in the past two games and multiple Yankees have had success lifetime versus Zimmermann. You couldn't pay me to use Zimmermann over Stroman today. There are better uses of your funds on this Friday.
