Best Landing Spot for Deshaun Watson's Fantasy Value

QB Deshaun Watson is set to be traded in the 2022 NFL offseason but where? Dom explains the ideal landing spot for Watson for fantasy football purposes.

Deshaun Watson sat out last season but not due to injury. Although much of it had to do with his legal issues, he had flatly refused to return to the Houston Texans even if they had wanted him on the field. Who could blame him? The team was and is a dumpster fire of immense proportions.

After one season under David Culley, the Texans parted ways with the coach in hopes of hiring Josh McCown as their new head coach. After being unable to hide this from everyone in the world, including us blind folks, the team settled on Lovie Smith as their next coach. Remembering how his teams played in Chicago and Tampa Bay, this is not an offense Watson would want to take part in.

Now that the legal issues are settled for Watson, there are many teams who will want to land his services. The most widely thrown out teams to this point have been the Carolina Panthers and the New Orleans Saints but with the recent trade of Russell Wilson, the Seattle Seahawks have become a player. So where is the best spot for him to find fantasy goodness? To me, it is quite simple.

Why DeShaun Watson Should Go To Seattle

The Steelers are the team many are pointing to but Seattle Seahawks are the team he should want to go to.

Pete Carroll is a great coach. He has taken undermanned teams to the playoffs as well as two Super Bowls during his time in Seattle. Although Wilson was a big part of this, the rest of the team was limited. Having a great quarterback can make all the difference in getting there and winning. Deshaun Watson has never even gotten there, and this is something he surely wants to do to prove his doubters and the Houston Texans wrong.

D.K. Metcalf is a beast at the wide receiver position. His ability to burn cornerbacks on deep routes mixed with the route running of Tyler Lockett will give Watson a receivers group the likes he has never had. While DeAndre Hopkins was great during his time with Watson, the duo of Metcalf and Lockett is far superior to the likes of Hopkins and Will Fuller. When Fuller could remain healthy.

The Seahawks will need to find a run game. With Chris Carson possible to miss the upcoming season with a severe neck injury, the team will need to decide whether to re-sign Rashaad Penny or go after someone like Leonard Fournette.

If Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks are able to pull off a trade for Watson, they would immediately become the favorites in a solid but not great NFC. While their defense is a bit of a mess, the numbers Watson would put up on offense would be remarkable. Because they will need to outscore teams, Watson would be back to his normal stature as a top-five fantasy quarterback. He would also keep Metcalf and Lockett in the discussion of wide receiver one status in fantasy leagues. The only people who would lose out here are the Houston Texans. And to be fair, they deserve it.
