ANALYSIS: Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery has scored a touchdown in every full game he has played this year, maintaining consistent usage even with the emergence of Jahmyr Gibbs. Since his Week 10 return, Montgomery has received at least 12 carries in every game, despite playing 50% or more of snaps only once. The 26-year-old remains the team's most trusted back, handling the ball in critical situations during games.
In Week 14, the Lions face the Bears, who allow the 10th-most points per game to running backs this season. In Week 11, Montgomery ran the ball 12 times for 76 yards and a touchdown against the Bears, despite a surprising game script where the Lions had to play from behind for most of the game.
Detroit's run-heavy scheme and the usage of both running backs, Montgomery and Gibbs, make them must-starts every week. Montgomery is considered a low-end RB1 for Week 14 against the Bears.
