Call of Duty DFS Lineup Picks (7/17/21) - DraftKings Daily Fantasy

Koby Hanson's DraftKings DFS lineup picks for Call of Duty on 7/17/21. He analyzes the COD slates and top lineup targets for eSports DFS contests.

Hello there eSports DFS enthusiasts, and welcome back to RotoBaller's coverage of Call of Duty DFS contests for DraftKings! Welcome back to COD DFS! The first week of Stage 5 went great! Florida killed it and ruined Dallas week, Minnesota and Toronto both swept their respective games and Atlanta FaZe gave up a map but oh was every single map close. It was a great game to watch. Time to continue with the rest of the weekend!

This is easily one of my favorite sports to cover here at Rotoballer because I play a ton of COD myself and I like to think I'm pretty good at it as well. I have been following the COD League for about five years now and I finally get to put all this knowledge to the test! To continue on week 2 we have a bunch of top teams against some of the worst, we have Toronto Ultra taking on Seattle Surge, Florida Mutineers taking on LA Guerrillas, NYSL takes on London Royal Ravens!

Today I'll be bringing you my COD DFS advice, analysis, and lineup picks for eSports DFS contests on DraftKings for Saturday, July 17th, 2021, at 3:00 PM. Feel free to follow me on Twitter @DFSKoby or find me in the slack as I am happy to engage with readers and try to answer your questions!

Call of Duty: Minnesota Rokkr Home Series

Best of 5

  • Toronto Ultra (-1800) vs. Seattle Surge (+800)
  • LA Guerrillas (+500) vs. Florida Mutineers  (-900)
  • London Royal Ravens (+255) vs. NY Subliners (-375)

Slate Overview

Toronto is a top team Seattle is not. Toronto Sweep, not much more than to be said.

LA Guerrillas are horrible and are by far the worst team in the league, like who loses 9-0 to your academy team?? Florida just beat Dallas who is really good and It should also be a sweep.

This game might be the closest of the day crazy enough and it still might end up being a sweep. London did steal a map from La Thieves who did beat NYSL. If there is any chance of London stealing a map, it will come in SnD. That is London's only map where they have been decent this year. Otherwise, this might just end up being a sweep like the rest of them. I'll say 3-1 for now but I wouldn't be surprised to see a sweep here either.

COD DFS Basics

  1. Like in CSGO, players receive two points for a kill and are penalized -1 for dying. Therefore, the simplest stat to look at here is K/D ratio. However, players can also earn fantasy points for planting or defusing bombs (three points each) in Search and Destroy rounds, so there are some players who we can target for other skills besides their ability to kill the opponent.
  2. You need to roster a team slot on both sites. Teams accrue fantasy points for games won (+4), matches won (+10), and Search and Destroy rounds won (+.5).
  3. Teams will be playing best-of-five matches on a rotation of various game modes. Those modes and the order in which they are played are as follows: Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, Control, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy.
  4. In hardpoint rounds, players with positive K/D ratios are usually the highest scorers and these rounds are often the bloodiest.
  5. They also have changed a game mode from Domination to Control for League play. This is going to be a lot different in gameplay as it's round-based and not the first one to 200. They play first one to 3 round wins. You win by capturing both points or killing the enemy team until they run out of their lives. One team defends and the other attacks.
  6. There is a sweep bonus this year as teams and players both can get a 20 point player sweep and a 5 point team sweep. In the chance, they do sweep they also get granted a bonus of 20 points for not playing hardpoint and a bonus of 5 points for not playing the final Search and Destroy map. So that adds up in a sweep to a total of 45 extra points which are going to be very crucial this year.

COD DFS Captain Considerations

Insight: Considering we have a slate that lacks value we are not going to be able to play some of the top guys such as Cammy. I think Insight is a very good way to come down a bit in price. Insight has been playing just as well and just had 126 DKP in their sweep of LA Guerrillas. They should come out and sweep Seattle as well and therefore I think we see a similar scoring line for Insight. So far during Stage 5, Insight has averaged a 1.15 K/D in hardpoint, a 1.70 K/D in SnD, and  1.74 K/D in Control which is insane! He's been cooking lately and therefore he is definitely my favorite play from Toronto!

Neptune: Im going to give you guys a cheap captain option to help on this slate filled with heavy favorites! Neptune has been absolutely insane lately, He's finally become the player I knew he was going to be at the beginning of the season, it took him a minute to get there but they have definitely rounded out as a team and Neptune has looked really good recently. He had a fantastic game against Dallas as he went off for a +14 day and had 85 kills. He had 114 in their win over Dallas and now gets a great matchup against LAG who they should sweep and Neptune should score very well in the process! So far in Stage 5, Neptune has a 1.48 K/D in Hardpoint and 1.15 in SnD. His control is where he struggles at where he has a .64 but I think his ability go off in Hardpoint makes up for it.

Other captain plays: Hydra, Skyz, Cammy

COD DFS Value Plays

Havok: I think Havok is going to be a must-have for your lineups. He is the cheapest player on a favored team, and as all teams should sweep that should be a free 45 points for Havok plus whatever he gets from slaying LA Guerrillas who are just plain awful. In their last sweep against LA Guerrillas, Havok had 90 and for a quick sweep as it was I'll take that every time. He could definitely improve in his next outing and we could see a better score for him but I like the floor that we get out of him in a sweep. In their last matchup, Havok had a 1.14 K/D in hardpoint, a 1.00 K/D in SnD, and a .86 K/D in control. I think Control he can improve on and because of that, we should see a higher score out of him. Hopefully closer to 100 DKP. He also just had 124 DKP in their win over Dallas today.

The bottom of the barrel: The lack of value is absolutely ridiculous. Havok is clearly the best option and now if you want another one you kinda have to pick your battles. I think the best chance at an upset is London against NYSL. I don't like recently what I have seen out of them but if theirs a game they are going to win NYSL should win this one. But London has a chance to win a map so I think the best options for another value play comes at the hands of PaulEhx or Afro. Prestinni isn't a horrible option out of Seattle, I wouldn't touch anyone from LA Guerrillas. But a balanced build might be the way to go here, that way you aren't punting a player from a team that might lose.

Other value plays: PaulEhx, Afro, Prestinni

COD DFS Stacks

Florida Mutineers: Basically anytime that LAG is on the board just expect the team against them is going to be very stackable. LAG is by far the worst in the league and Florida just upset Dallas in a great game. Everyone is 100% in play here as Havok and Neptune have rounded out this team very well and have improved greatly over the last stage! Skyz is still in the top spot but he is pretty expensive so getting him might make it a bit difficult. Neptune, I love and is probably one of my favorite plays on the slate. Havok is the best value by far, and Owakening looked much better in his recent series. Toronto is also a great play against Seattle and would definitely be my secondary stack and is a pivot from Florida if you choose to go that way.

Other Team Plays: Toronto Ultra, NY Subliners, London RR(LARGE GPP)

Summary

  1. TLDR: Toronto 3-0, Florida 3-0, NYSL 3-1
  2. Florida Mutineers: All Players
  3. LA Guerrillas: None
  4. Toronto Ultra: All Players
  5. Seattle Surge: Octane
  6. Subliners: Hydra, Mack
  7. London: PaulEhx, Afro
