Call of Duty DFS Lineup Picks (3/5/21) - DraftKings Daily Fantasy

Koby Hanson's DraftKings DFS lineup picks for Call of Duty on 3/5/21. He analyzes the COD slates and top lineup targets for eSports DFS contests.

Hello there eSports DFS enthusiasts, and welcome back to RotoBaller's coverage of Call of Duty DFS contests for DraftKings! Welcome back guys to the coverage of the First CDL Major of the 2021 Season! Great to be back as this weekend the best of the best are going to be taking each other on this weekend! I don't think I could have been any more wrong about today's slate of games. That was brutal to watch... LA Guerrillas swept LA Thieves, Optic Chicago came out and showed whos boss and smoked New York Subliners. Florida Mutineers decided they wanted a win so they came out and beat Paris. Last but not least and this one hurt the most. Toronto Ultra beat Minnesota Rokkr who is one of the best SnD teams in the league and won in Game 5. Absolute crazy slate. But tomorrow is a new day and I think it's time we bounce back and crush this slate!

This is easily one of my favorite sports to cover here at Rotoballer because I play a ton of COD myself and I like to think I'm pretty good at it as well. I have been following the COD League for about five years now and I finally get to put all this knowledge to the test! My Name is Koby and I'll be here all season long to help guide you through the COD DFS world. Welcome back to another great weekend of COD DFS! Tomorrow's set of games include Dallas Empire taking on the Surging Optic Chicago team. Atlanta FaZe takes on LA Guerrillas after a big upset, can they do it again? Also, we have NYS taking on the Florida Mutineers and the LA Thieves finishing out the day against Toronto Ultra.

Today I'll be bringing you my COD DFS advice, analysis, and lineup picks for eSports DFS contests on DraftKings for Friday, March 5th, 2021, at 3:00 PM. Feel free to follow me on Twitter @DFSKoby or find me in the slack as I am happy to engage with readers and try to answer your questions!

Call of Duty: Atlanta Home Series

Best of 5

  • Dallas Empire vs. Optic Chicago
  • Atlanta FaZe  vs. LA Guerrillas
  • LA Thieves vs. Toronto Ultra
  • New York Subliners vs. Florida Mutineers

 Slate Overview

Big slate ahead of us. First up we have Atlanta FaZe taking on the LA Guerrillas who are looking hot right now with a big upset over the LA Thieves. But this is the best team in the CDL right now in Atlanta. The only Undefeated team left and the only teams I could see having a chance at taking them out is Optic and Dallas right now which will play Atlanta on Saturday in the case Atlanta wins. LA Guerrillas looked good, no denying that but with how good FaZe is playing right now, it's hard to pick against them and they have already played once this season and Atlanta swept them. Now LA Guerrillas has improved in hardpoint quite a lot and if they have any chance at pulling a game away from FaZe it's going to be there. Give me 3-0 Atlanta

Can I just say watch this game? This is going to be a down to the wire/nail biter if I have ever seen one. These are two of the best teams in the CDL right now and they are both fighting to stay alive in the playoffs. The winner plays Atlanta vs. LAG winner. I know I said this about LA Thieves vs Dallas last week as well but I think this matchup might be even better and Optic has only improved on their game this season even winning matches in SnD where they struggled at the beginning of the year. If Optic can beat Dallas in SnD, then there is a chance we could see a sweep but I'm gonna give Dallas the edge in SnD and Optic the edge in Control by a mile. This game is going to be an intense one and two of the League leaders in K/D in Dashy and Huke are going up against each other and should make for an awesome matchup. But I'm going to say Optic wins 3-2

Florida has won two straight against Seattle and Paris. I'm not impressed, to be honest. Especially how poorly they played in their win against Paris today. Subliners took a rough L against an extremely good Optic team and I'm going to look at this as a good rebound game for NYS as that was a tough way to start the Major. Clayster and Mack are playing very well last few games and Asim can explode at any time. I do like though how as soon as I mention Diamoncon he absolutely just bombs and forgets how to play smh. So I'm staying away from him as long as his price is what it is. Florida desperately needs everyone to perform out of their minds to get a hold of this game. Give me 3-1 NYS

Last but not least. the poor LA Thieves are taking on Toronto Ultra. I honestly don't know what to say. Kenny is seriously killing this team right now. He is playing so poorly and it's bringing this team down. Slasher and TJ are playing well though and Temp has been consistent this season as well. It just shows how one player's poor performance can affect an entire team so severely. I still think they rebound after two awful losses and bring this one Toronto.  La Thieves have been better in Hardpoint and Control this season and will probably drop SnD to Toronto. Therefore 3-1 Thieves is the call. Fade Kenny.

COD DFS Basics

  1. Like in CSGO, players receive two points for a kill and are penalized -1 for dying. Therefore, the simplest stat to look at here is K/D ratio. However, players can also earn fantasy points for planting or defusing bombs (three points each) in Search and Destroy rounds, so there are some players who we can target for other skills besides their ability to kill the opponent.
  2. You need to roster a team slot on both sites. Teams accrue fantasy points for games won (+4), matches won (+10), and Search and Destroy rounds won (+.5).
  3. Teams will be playing best-of-five matches on a rotation of various game modes. Those modes and the order in which they are played are as follows: Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, Control, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy.
  4. In hardpoint rounds, players with positive K/D ratios are usually the highest scorers and these rounds are often the bloodiest.
  5. They also have changed a game mode from Domination to Control for League play. This is going to be a lot different in gameplay as it's round-based and not the first one to 200. They play first one to 3 round wins. You win by capturing both points or killing the enemy team until they run out of their lives. One team defends and the other attacks.
  6. There is a sweep bonus this year as teams and players both can get a 20 point player sweep and a 5 point team sweep. In the chance, they do sweep they also get granted a bonus of 20 points for not playing hardpoint and a bonus of 5 points for not playing the final Search and Destroy map. So that adds up in a sweep to a total of 45 extra points which are going to be very crucial this year.

COD DFS Captain Considerations

Simp: I will say this. Simp sucked last time out. Like I haven't seen Simp play poorly like that. The funny thing? He still has 78 kills and scored 94 DKP, that's a poor outing for him. Thats insane to say the least. Last outing against LAG he had 116 DKP with 51 kills and went +10 on the day. He is a very good player and just happened to have an off day. Simp should be high in consideration here as Atlanta could be looking at another sweep coming into this one. LAG has looked better though and that could add to a tougher challenge for Simp who still scores well in 4 game matches as well. He is pricey though and if you want to pivot, Abezy has been playing consistently well also and is 1k cheaper.

Dashy: Dashy is going absolutely ballistic. he just dropped 81 kills in three games. In one of those games, he only had 10 kills. He dropped an insane 170 DKP last game. He dropped an insane 2.13 K/D which is the highest this season in the league. He has one match that has gone to 5 games so far this season and he dropped 99 kills in that one. This is a perfect game environment for something just like that. Both of these teams are really good and with how good Dashy is playing right now, it's a great spot for a massive scoreline.

Other captain plays: Huke, Clayster, Slasher, Abezy

COD DFS Value Plays

FormaL: FormaL has got back into last year's form! He is finally starting to get his groove back and I'm all here for it. Today in their sweep of NYS, He went +18 on the day with 63 kills in 3 games. In his last three matches, he has averaged just under 120 DKP per match. The nice thing is. DK has kept him at the sub 8k price the whole season and as long as he is there. He will always be a top Value play in my book. FormaL is playing at a high level right now and I want to keep on this guy as long as he is cheap because he is producing big numbers right now and with a possible 5 game match coming up that could be bloody, I'm all in on players who can execute big kill games and as well get objective hill time which is somewhere FormaL excels in as well. FormaL is 6th in the league in overall K/D. Also, is top 10 in Control K/D and Hardpoint K/D. Get on him while he is cheap.

Arcitys: Ill say this again. He is only worth playing for the sweep bonus. He played really well against LAG at the beginning of the season as well and that leads me back to him. 6.6k. That's cheap for an Atlanta player who has sweep potential right now. I don't love it as he is inconsistent and can either play well or just drops a bomb and looks absolutely horrid. This is a good spot though for him to bounce back and look good in this game. It's a big one as well to keep them alive in the playoffs. He is probably the cheapest I'm willing to go on this slate too and with a slate of many high-priced players I want. This is a good cheap spot with high potential.

Other value plays: Temp, C6, Asim, Illey(PUNT), Slacked(ULTIMATE PUNT)

COD DFS Stacks

Atlanta FaZe: I think our only chance at a sweep in this slate of games is right here. Atlanta is the best team and the only undefeated team left in the League. Earlier in the season FaZe played LAG and swept them fairly quickly. LAG does look like a different team and are playing better but so is FaZe. It's crazy that this team could get better than they already are. They are going to need another big game from Arcitys as he did last time out and he hasn't been anywhere close to that so far the rest of the season. At most I think LAG could win one game in this match, They have done well upsetting teams but its going to be a tall task to upset FaZe and if they do I'll consider them the real deal but for now. 3-0 FaZe is where I'm at. Simp is always going to be in consideration here, the only thing that puts me off of him in the slightest is his price. Other than that he should be looked at in all formats. Cellium and Abezy are playing well too and are both mid-tier plays that could smash in a sweep if that's the case. Last but not least we have Arcitys bringing up the rear. He really is only worth his price if they sweep here. He scored 131 DKP last time they swept and if he can get there again he could smash at his price.

New York Subliners: Here's where I'm at on this pick. Florida won today yes. But looked absolutely horrible doing it. All their players went negative in the process except Slacked of all people. Paris definitely played like the better team and just was outplayed when it came down to objective. Back to NYS though. Optic might be one of the best teams in the CDL right now and I could easily see them beating Dallas tomorrow so NYS losing to them, shouldn't be too much of a worry.

This is a good game for them to bounce back on and I think NYS is a better team in Hardpoint and Search and Destroy. Control they have been poor at and that's why I don't think they sweep here. Florida has been really good at Control so far this season and so a 3-1 would not surprise in favor of NYS. Asim has struggled but his price is getting cheaper and it's hard to not go back to him. Clayster is a clear play though. He had a rough outing today but Dashy absolutely demolished them and Clayster should be able to bounce back and get some action going. DiamondCon looked really poor today as well but his price is a little too high for my liking and so I'm going to have to pass. Mack has stepped up though and should be in consideration here as a pivot from Clayster. He's improved from a sluggish start to the season and should be able to keep up the tempo.

Other Team Plays: Optic Chicago, Dallas Empire, LA Thieves

Summary

  1. TLDR: Atlanta 3-0, Optic 3-2, NYS 3-1, Thieves 3-1
  2. Atlanta is a Cash stack
  3. Dashy vs. Huke that's gonna be the decider in most lineups. Hedging here would not be a horrible idea as both of these guys are playing at MVP levels right now. Wouldnt even mind a game stack with both of them if you can get there.
  4. NYS should be able to get back on track with a win here over Florida team that is worse than their recent wins have shown.
  5. Thieves oh what can I say. Im jumping back on here. Slasher and TJ still looked okay in the loss. Temp is too cheap. Kenny is a no-go until he improves. He's looked off.
