Call of Duty DFS Lineup Picks (2/28/21) - DraftKings Daily Fantasy

Koby Hanson's DraftKings DFS lineup picks for Call of Duty on 2/28/21. He analyzes the COD slates and top lineup targets for eSports DFS contests.

Hello there eSports DFS enthusiasts, and welcome back to RotoBaller's coverage of Call of Duty DFS contests for DraftKings! Yeah, I had a feeling that would happen with Toronto. FaZe on the other hand????? I will say though if you didn't watch that match, that was probably the most entertaining match of the season so far. Every round and map was an extremely close one, and it was back and forth the entire series. It was a perfect match to watch, and Paris definitely made it interesting. Minnesota made quick work of the poor London Ravens who have yet to see a win this year. Toronto got showed how to play SnD correctly as LAG made them look like a bunch of noobs on both games of SnD.

This is easily one of my favorite sports to cover here at Rotoballer because I play a ton of COD myself and I like to think I'm pretty good at it as well. I have been following the COD League for about five years now and I finally get to put all this knowledge to the test! My Name is Koby and I'll be here all season long to help guide you through the COD DFS world. Welcome back to another great week of COD DFS! The final day of the Super Week is upon us! It's going to be a great one too as New York looks for a rebound after an upsetting loss against Dallas and is playing Seattle. Optic Chicago takes on the struggling Mutineers and to finish the day out with the best match this week in the 4-0 LA Thieves taking on the Dallas Empire!

Today I'll be bringing you my COD DFS advice, analysis, and lineup picks for eSports DFS contests on DraftKings for Sunday, February 28th, 2021, at 3:00 PM. Feel free to follow me on Twitter @DFSKoby or find me in the slack as I am happy to engage with readers and try to answer your questions!

Call of Duty: Atlanta Home Series

Best of 5

  • New York Subliners (-385) vs. Seattle Surge (+265)
  • Florida Mutineers (+165) vs. Optic Chicago (-225)
  • LA Thieves (+155) vs. Dallas Empire (-200)

 Slate Overview

Subliners look to rebound after a devastating loss in this one against a Surge team that seems very disorganized and can't get it together. They took the Thieves to 5 games this week before not showing up for the final game and getting blown out. This Seattle team can be good they are just missing a piece and the Subliners are really not missing anything right now. They are a very strong team right now and are going to be looking to make a run at the first Major coming up next week and are going to need this win to get a high seeding to start out. Look for this Subliners team to ball out as they are out for blood.

Remember when I was on Florida at the beginning of the season... Well, I have given up on that until I see improvement. Neptune and Owakening are playing at a high level but Slacked and Skyz are not and it's hurting them severely right now. Optic has only lost once this season in a 5 game match against FaZe so a very respectable loss as they are the top team this season so far. At most I'm giving Florida one game to win but I really don't see them pulling off the upset here, unless something drastically changes overnight. Optic should win Control and Hardpoint and the SnD is a tossup as both teams are mediocre in it.

Last but not least, This is one I am going to watch closely and I recommend you do as well. This match is something we could see in a championship this year as the Thieves have mopped up every team so far this season and now get their toughest test to date in Dallas. I thought Dallas was about to get shutout against NYS until Shotzzy went full God-mode and took that game into his hands helped his team back into it. If we see this Shotzzy again it's going to be a tough night for LA, but they have played well so far this season and I expect that to continue. Thieves I'm giving the edge in Hardpoint. Both SnD and Control though are very even and it could fall either way. This is going to be a tight and bloody match and is going to be worth watching every second of it.

COD DFS Basics

  1. Like in CSGO, players receive two points for a kill and are penalized -1 for dying. Therefore, the simplest stat to look at here is K/D ratio. However, players can also earn fantasy points for planting or defusing bombs (three points each) in Search and Destroy rounds, so there are some players who we can target for other skills besides their ability to kill the opponent.
  2. You need to roster a team slot on both sites. Teams accrue fantasy points for games won (+4), matches won (+10), and Search and Destroy rounds won (+.5).
  3. Teams will be playing best-of-five matches on a rotation of various game modes. Those modes and the order in which they are played are as follows: Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, Control, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy.
  4. In hardpoint rounds, players with positive K/D ratios are usually the highest scorers and these rounds are often the bloodiest.
  5. They also have changed a game mode from Domination to Control for League play. This is going to be a lot different in gameplay as it's round-based and not the first one to 200. They play first one to 3 round wins. You win by capturing both points or killing the enemy team until they run out of their lives. One team defends and the other attacks.
  6. There is a sweep bonus this year as teams and players both can get a 20 point player sweep and a 5 point team sweep. In the chance, they do sweep they also get granted a bonus of 20 points for not playing hardpoint and a bonus of 5 points for not playing the final Search and Destroy map. So that adds up in a sweep to a total of 45 extra points which are going to be very crucial this year.

COD DFS Captain Considerations

Clayster: I don't think I have enough room to talk about how high of a level Clayster is playing at currently. Dropping a ridiculous 111 kills last time out and going positive by at least +11 in every single match so far this year even the one where they lost. In matches where they have swept Clayster has averaged 122 points with 50+ kills in both of those. He is a hefty 14.4k but this matchup is too juicy to not want to get Clayster in at captain where he could be dropping over 160 points in the captain spot or more. He is 3rd in overall K/D, 5th in Hardpoint kills per game, 4th in SnD K/D, and 1st in Control Kills per game. He is a stat padder and a DFS Gold Mine and the top play on this slate.

Envoy/Dashy: I really love both of these guys and If you can play both of them in an Optic Stack you really should as they are one of the best pairs in the league. Envoy is one of the best hardpoint players in the league currently, he has 1.22 K/D in hardpoint games and is averaging over 2 minutes of hardpoint per match. With two games over 3 minutes. Dashy has played well in hardpoint as well and has increased his hill time as well. Dashy has been fantastic though in Control and Search and Destroy where he leads his team in K/D in both game modes. I only recommend Envoy as he is cheaper and that near 2k discount can be a lot when it comes down to your last player. But if you can get Dashy in at your Captain he is one of the best plays to do so.

Other captain plays: Huke, Slasher, Asim, Octane(Large GPP)

COD DFS Value Plays

FormaL: FormaL is your probably best bet at fitting some high-priced players in at Captain or in other Flex spots. He is a cheap 6.8k and is playing a lot better than his price shows. I'm surprised to actually see him cheaper than Scump who has only one match above 100 DKP this season and that was their only sweep so far. I really like how FormaL has got more involved with the team and is also averaging over 2 minutes of hill time in hardpoint which translates to 12 extra points. He won't necessarily blow your skirt up with a massive amount of kills but he stays just about even on his K/D and has done so far this season and if Optic can pull off the sweep then FormaL will score very well for someone so damn cheap.

Temp: I thought about talking about Mack but I decided to go Temp as I've only really talked about NYS and Optic so far. So Temp has played exceptionally well so far this season and has kind of just flown under the radar and scored well so far this season other than last games outing against London where he had a mediocre game with only 87 DKP but besides that game, he was averaging 110 DKP per game and in a 5 game match had 122 DKP and over 90 kills. I do expect this game to go 5 games and I could easily see him dropping over 100 DKP once again and he could go lower owned as people are going to look at Optic and NYS stacks for their value to hopefully find sweep bonuses.

Other value plays: Shotzzy, C6, Kenny, Mack, Illey(PUNT)

COD DFS Stacks

New York Subliners: This Subliners team is dangerous. They looked like they were about to sweep Dallas until shotzzy went into MVP mode and took over the game. They get a fantastic matchup to regain their momentum against Seattle who has only a win against the winless Ravens. This should be another one of their patented sweeps. Maybe a Game 4 if Seattle can sneak a win in on Search and Destroy where they match up fairly evenly. Hardpoint and Control should be in favor of NYS by a lot and if it does get to Game 4 that plays into their strengths very well and will just add to their kills on the day. In a sweep NYS scored over 100 points by every player on their team. I like Subliners a lot in this matchup as they should dominate and come out with a nice win going into the Major next week.

Optic Chicago: Optic has only one sweep this year, so that's why I'm going 3-1 in this one. The SnD map is going to be a tossup as both teams aren't great at it and it could go either way. But Optic is 5-2 in hardpoint and 4-0 in Control this year so I'm giving them the edge in those Gamemodes. Chicago could very well sweep also as they have looked better in SnD the last few matches, therefore the optimal lineup will more than likely be Optic/NYS stacks and it's gonna be about getting the right people in those places. Formal is insanely cheap today and should be looked at. Dashy and Envoy are playing at insane levels as well and I love them in Chicago Stacks. Scump is their Veteran presence and plays well but hasn't scored well and I don't love his price so far this year.

LA Thieves: This match is going to be absolutely insane and I'm all for it. I'm giving the edge here to the Thieves as they have played better so far this season. That matchup extremely well, and although I think Thieves wins, I'm sure this one will go to Game 5 and come down to the wire as both of these teams are top teams in the League. Slasher is playing at another level right now and is a top pick from Thieves and I do like the price on Temp as he is played well so far this season and in 5 game matches has shown 90+ kill upside. On the other side though Shotzzy is too cheap at 8k and should be looked at very seriously in your lineups. Huke is still an option but he is getting up there in price that makes it very difficult to get him and still have a viable lineup.

Other Team Plays: Dallas Empire, Florida Mutineers (GPP)

Summary

  1. TLDR: NYS 3-0, Optic Chicago 3-1, LA Thieves 3-2
  2.  Big Stack will be Subliners here with pieces of Optic as well.
  3. The last game is going to be a bloodbath and picking the correct players that go off in this game is going to be crucial. Look to Slasher, Kenny, Shotzzy, Huke, and Temp for someone cheap.
