Call of Duty DFS Lineup Picks (2/14/21) - DraftKings Daily Fantasy eSports

Koby Hanson's DraftKings DFS lineup picks for Call of Duty on 2/14/21. He analyzes the COD slates and top lineup targets for eSports DFS contests.

Hello there eSports DFS enthusiasts, and welcome back to RotoBaller's coverage of Call of Duty DFS contests for DraftKings! My Name is Koby and I'll be here all season long to help guide you through the COD DFS world. Today was quite surprising actually, Florida got mopped, which was totally not the way I thought it was going to go. Toronto looked so much better than they did last year and that's something to keep an eye out for in future slates. Florida did still score very well as Neptune and Owakening dropped 90+kills and still helped me cash at least along with an awesome sweep win by the LA Thieves as they took down New York quickly and scored well in the process. The Paris/LAG game ended in 5 games which I got right but the team winning was LAG. Both teams still scored very well as they played hard and were dropping lots of kills in the process!

This is easily one of my favorite sports to cover here at Rotoballer because I play a ton of COD myself and I like to think I'm pretty good at it as well. I have been following the COD League for about five years now and I finally get to put all this knowledge to the test!

Today I'll be bringing you my COD DFS advice, analysis, and lineup picks for eSports DFS contests on DraftKings and FanDuel for Saturday, February 13, 2021, at 3:00 PM. Feel free to follow me on Twitter @DFSKoby or find me in the slack as I am happy to engage with readers and try to answer your questions!

Call of Duty: Paris Legion Home Series Semifinals

Best of 5

  • Dallas Empire (-800) vs. Minnesota (+425)
  • Seattle Surge (+155) vs. London Royal Ravens (-210)
  • Optic Chicago (-105) vs. Atlanta FaZe (-125)

Slate Overview

First Game up Today is Seattle Surge vs London! This game is going to be a lot closer than the absolutely demolition that Seattle suffered against Dallas on Thursday. London kept their roster with the exception of Wuskin, which I think was a big mistake as Wuskin was an absolute killer last year and was a great part of this London team. They are still a middle-tier team but it's going to be a lot closer of a game and I think this is a great spot for Octane. He got a major price down from Thursday which is a huge mistake by Draft Kings as Octane last year averaged the most DKP out of any player last year and this is a fantastic spot for the Surge team leader. On the London side of things, Zer0 is not even playing yet at the top of the pricing scale, so make sure you don't roster him as he will not score any points in the match tomorrow, Im going to give London the advantage here tho and say they win 3-2 but don't count Seattle out as they could be a sleeper coming into this match and may be able to pull out a win.

Dallas will more than likely sweep here, I don't know that I need to go more in-depth than that here. Faze and Optic will be the game of the day. Both of these teams are top teams and could easily make a run at that championship here. All players here are in play and I love the pricing on some of them Cellium, envoy, formal, and Simp are all underpriced and should be looked at here very seriously. This game will more than likely go all 5 games who wins though? I honestly have no clue I'm going to pick Optic but I would not be surprised if this game down to the last seconds or rounds in game 5. This game is going to be very stack worthy.

COD DFS Basics

  1. Like in CSGO, players receive two points for a kill and are penalized -1 for dying. Therefore, the simplest stat to look at here is K/D ratio. However, players can also earn fantasy points for planting or defusing bombs (three points each) in Search and Destroy rounds, so there are some players who we can target for other skills besides their ability to kill the opponent.
  2. You need to roster a team slot on both sites. Teams accrue fantasy points for games won (+4), matches won (+10), and Search and Destroy rounds won (+.5).
  3. Teams will be playing best-of-five matches on a rotation of various game modes. Those modes and the order in which they are played is as follows: Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, Control, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy.
  4. In hardpoint rounds, players with positive K/D ratios are usually the highest scorers and these rounds are often the bloodiest.
  5. They also have changed a game mode from Domination to Control for League play. This is going to be a lot different in gameplay as it's round-based and not the first one to 200. They play first one to 3 round wins. You win by capturing both points or killing the enemy team until they run out of their lives. One team defends and the other attacks.
  6. There is a sweep bonus this year as teams and players both can get a 20 point player sweep and a 5 point team sweep. In the chance, they do sweep they also get granted a bonus of 20 points for not playing hardpoint and a bonus of 5 points for not playing the final Search and Destroy map. So that adds up in a sweep to a total of 45 extra points which are going to be very crucial this year.

COD DFS Captain Considerations

Simp/Shottzy: You guys are going to get sick of hearing it but Shottzy is our former MVP and is still a killer coming into this year. Same with Simp, he is one of the most experienced COD players in all the league and he got priced down even after a win because he had a lesser performance, This is a smash spot for Simp as he thrives on big kill games and objectives. If the FaZe game goes all 5 games, Simp could be the highest scorer on the slate and you won't see him as a mid-tier priced play for very long. Shottzy and Huke were both killing it against Seattle and I do expect the same performance from them against Minnesota where they could sweep or if Minnesota pulls a quick one on Search and Destroy, then it could go to Game 4 which is even more beneficial for these guys!

Octane: Octane averaged more than any player last year with 107 DKP on average. He was averaging over 80 kills per match in matches that went to 4 or more games. He is one of the best players in the league right now and could be a low owned option at Captain. If this match goes to 4 or 5 games, Octane is going to be at the top of that scoring field. With a more favorable matchup against London and a slightly better team to back him up. Seattle might be able to make a run at London and pull something out of the works. I do expect London to win but Octane even in losses has scored well and with him as cheap as he is. He could be a sneaky play to get you some other higher priced guys.

Other captain plays: Dashy, Arcitys, Abezy, Huke

COD DFS Value Plays

Cellium: Seriously? 6.4k? This is a joke, right? Cellium is a top tier player and the fact we are getting him so cheap is ridiculous, don't be surprised when Cellium is 75% plus owned because Draft Kings messed up. Cellium had 119 points in their last game against LAG, yes it was a sweep but he had 56 kills and only 44 deaths in 3 games. That's pretty damn good and only arcitys scored more than him. And now he is one of the cheapest plays and with how many games this match could go. We could see Cellium dropping 90+ kills and that's a lot for someone for that cheap.

Formal Another Miss pricing. Optic beat Paris so quick Formal only had 47 kills and still managed 114 DKP. Formal was one of the best players in last year's regular-season and now he is only a cheap 7,600. Formal has the ability to drop 80+ kills and in this matchup and he could very well be the best play on his team. Both him and Envoy are cheap and are fantastic plays going into this. This might be a slate where you leave some salary on the table as there is a lot of value plays that can score extremely well. Make sure you get some pieces in this matchup as it is going to be bloody and when there is blood, there is some high scoring.

Other value plays: C6, Scump, Envoy, Gunless, Alexx

COD DFS Stacks

Dallas: The Clear number one play here. Huke and Shottzy absolutely destroyed on Thursday and I seriously expect that to happen again. Minnesota is a lot better team than Seattle is but Dallas is the best team in the league and until they get taken down, they will continue to be one of the best teams to pick. Huke and Shottzy are definitely top spots but C6 really showed out and I love the value that we can continue to get on him. Illey underperformed but I don't think we can completely rule him out unless it continues to show that he can't score as well.

Atlanta Faze/ Optic Chicago: I'm putting these two together as the line on it is so close that we are going to want to look for the best plays more than stacking an entire team. I fully believe this game goes to 4 or 5 and that more than not will result in picking the best plays. For some reason, Cellium got dropped from 8.6k all the way down to 6.4k after a 100+ performance and if he can do that again which I have no doubt he does can be the best value on the slate. Simp got priced down and same with formal and envoy. I could see someone stacking this entire game and it could come out to be optimal. Arcitys got priced up after his huge performance, I'm just not sure he can keep that up and I expect a big performance out of Simp as a little bit of a rebound. Really any play here will be doable and this game is going to be bloody. Load up here.

Other Team Plays: Seattle Surge, London Royal Ravens
