Analysis: One day, Andrew Benintendi picked up a baseball bat for the first time, and based on his recent career trend, it still remains to be seen whether he is capable of falling into a slump at the plate. In his 20 AB since getting the call from the Red Sox he has a .450 BA, a .950 OPS, and a stolen base. Since 2015 the 22-year old Benintendi has just 570 AB across four minor league levels. In that time he has a .312/.392/.540 slash line, 20 HR, 26 stolen bases, a 9.6% strikeout rate, and a 11.3% walk rate. He combines speed, power, contact hitting, and ultra-focused plate discipline, and has virtually never struggled even dating back to his days as an Arkansas Razorback. Benintendi is a super talented future All-Star caliber player in Boston, and he has picked up at Fenway right where he left off in Double-A Portland.
