Kyle Freeland Pitches Well, Exits Early
Kyle Freeland earned the win on Tuesday when he allowed two runs on four hits with no walks and five strikeouts over five innings in a 13-6 win over the Cubs. Freeland allowed just two runs over the first five frames by giving up an RBI groundout to Jason Heyward and a solo home run to Ian Happ. He was in line to pick his fourth straight quality start but he took a comebacker off his foot in the fifth inning and didn't come back out for the sixth. The team later described the injury as a "left foot contusion". It was a shame he left early as he had only thrown 66 pitches but he was still able to pick up the win. The 28-year-old now owns a 4.46 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, and 51:19 K/BB ratio over 66 2/3 innings (13 starts). He should be good to go for his next start at home against the Marlins this weekend.
