Call of Duty DFS Lineup Picks (7/30/21) - DraftKings Daily Fantasy

Koby Hanson's DraftKings DFS lineup picks for Call of Duty on 7/30/21. He analyzes the COD slates and top lineup targets for eSports DFS contests.

Hello there eSports DFS enthusiasts, and welcome back to RotoBaller's coverage of Call of Duty DFS contests for DraftKings! Welcome back to COD DFS! Welcome back to week three of stage 5. Welcome to the final COD article of the year, It has been a great season and I appreciate everyone who has read an article this season! Let us go out with a bang and crush this slate! What a start to Major 5! The big upset happened as Minnesota took down FaZe in dominant fashion, LAG almost played spoiler but came up short in game 5. Seattle won 3-1 as expected, and Toronto pulled it out in 5 over LA Thieves.

This is easily one of my favorite sports to cover here at Rotoballer because I play a ton of COD myself and I like to think I'm pretty good at it as well. I have been following the COD League for about five years now and I finally get to put all this knowledge to the test! Going into the second round we have some fantastic matchups. Seattle Surge and London Royal Ravens get their last crack at each other and the winner gets FaZe let's see who wants it more. Florida Mutineers gets a struggling NYSL team in their first game of Major 5, Minnesota Rokkr comes off a huge upset and gets another big matchup against Dallas Empire. Last but not least Optic Chicago gets a hot Toronto Ultra team that is going to make for a banger of a matchup.

Today I'll be bringing you my COD DFS advice, analysis, and lineup picks for eSports DFS contests on DraftKings for Friday, July 30th, 2021, at 3:00 PM. Feel free to follow me on Twitter @DFSKoby or find me in the slack as I am happy to engage with readers and try to answer your questions!

Call of Duty: Major 5

Best of 5

  • Seattle Surge vs. London Royal Ravens
  • Florida Mutineers vs. NY Subliners
  • Minnesota Rokkr vs. Dallas Empire
  • Optic Chicago vs. Toronto Ultra

Slate Overview

I loved how well Seattle played today, they improve on SnD and they are golden. They played extremely well and had some insane team chemistry going. This is going to be a pretty similar series as I do think Seattle wins this one 3-1, their one loss coming from SnD. Seattle has been by far the better Hardpoint and Control team and almost put Paris in the 100 point club in almost both hardpoint games. LRR's best game mode has been SnD. So I definitely think they win that one for sure. Should be a 3-1 win from Seattle.

NYSL looked awful. Choking away a game in hardpoint and losing a game in SnD. Florida is a much better team and I think they are going to be playing very well on LAN. Florida struggled in their last two games but against good teams in Toronto and Minnesota. NYSL is just not like that and I just don't see them winning this one, they might get a win in Control as that is where Florida has struggled but hardpoint and SnD have been very good for Florida. 3-1 Florida at worst.

So this Minnesota team came out to play! Sending FaZe to the Losers bracket is an impressive feat. They get a really tough challenge in Dallas Empire who played stellar in the last LAN event. This is going to be a tough task to take them down as well but they played them recently and might be able to improve on mistakes. They looked great in hardpoint and SnD. I give Minnesota the edge in SnD for sure. I give the edge to Dallas in Control. Hardpoint is a bit more of a tossup but a slight edge to Dallas because of how these teams recently played against each other.

This game is going to be crazy, and honestly, I have no clue which way this game goes. Hardpoint has been where Toronto has struggled the most and I like Optic wins on that game mode. Control is where Toronto has been better at though and are 6-0 in the stage. SnD is dead even so this game could go either way. Im going to give the slightest of edges to Optic to win this one because of how well they played in stage 5.

COD DFS Basics

  1. Like in CSGO, players receive two points for a kill and are penalized -1 for dying. Therefore, the simplest stat to look at here is K/D ratio.
  2. You need to roster a team slot on both sites. Teams accrue fantasy points for games won (+4), matches won (+10), and Search and Destroy rounds won (+.5).
  3. Teams will be playing best-of-five matches on a rotation of various game modes. Those modes and the order in which they are played are as follows: Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, Control, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy.
  4. In hardpoint rounds, players with positive K/D ratios are usually the highest scorers and these rounds are often the bloodiest.
  5. They also have changed a game mode from Domination to Control for League play. This is going to be a lot different in gameplay as it's round-based and not the first one to 200. They play first one to 3 round wins. You win by capturing both points or killing the enemy team until they run out of their lives. One team defends and the other attacks.
  6. There is a sweep bonus this year as teams and players both can get a 20 point player sweep and a 5 point team sweep. In the chance, they do sweep they also get granted a bonus of 20 points for not playing hardpoint and a bonus of 5 points for not playing the final Search and Destroy map. So that adds up in a sweep to a total of 45 extra points which are going to be very crucial this year.

COD DFS Captain Considerations

Shotzzy: This is a little bit more of a risky play against a hot Minnesota team that just knocked off FaZe. But I like how Dallas had handled Minnesota in their last matchup winning 3-1. Shotzzy had a stellar game too against them and has been playing well in stage 5. He averaged a 1.10 K/D in Hardpoint, a 1.25 K/D in SnD, and a 1.24 K/D in Control. I really do like Dallas in the respawn game modes as that has definitely been their strong suit. SnD they haven't been horrible at but Minnesota has dominated so, I like shotzzy to eat in those respawn game modes.

Skyz: I get to bring my boy Skyz out one last time. He has been very good to me this season and I feel like it's only right to get him in one last time this season. He has been solid and although he struggled his last two games, I'm confident in Florida to get this win and smash his projection. I think NYSL is struggling and Florida is going to come out with an urge to win. During Stage 5, Skyz was averaging a 1.31 K/D in Hardpoint, a 1.19 in SnD and Control. He's an elite play with an oddly low price tag for him. 9k is a really good price and shouldn't be overlooked.

Other captain plays: Dashy, Cammy, Insight, Envoy, Standy (GPP)

COD DFS Value Plays

Gunless/Prestinni: So Gunless and Prestinni win their game today and have a fantastic score and get lowered in price? Okay, I'll go right back to it. Prestinni had a fantastic day today as he went +18, Gunless went +12. SnD was where they only struggled at, in respawn game modes though they were killing it. I don't think you need to get both in a lineup and these guys are great one-offs. The value on this slate is insane. Prestinni is 6,800 and Gunless is 7,200. The safer pick is Gunless but I don't mind Prestinni especially after his performance today.

Neptune: Neptune had been playing great up until his last two games where Florida as a whole struggled. NYSL on the other hand just barely made it past a horrid LAG team. Neptune was definitely having his best stage during stage 5 as he was averaging a 1.18 K/D in Hardpoint, a 1.00 in SnD, and a rough.70 K/D in Control. Control has been where they have struggled though. I expect it to improve here though and hopefully has a better game. Neptune has 100+ DKP potential and has shown it in 4 of his last 7 matches. Specifically on LAN Neptune has been an absolute demon, he averaged a 1.36 overall K/D during his LAN event.

Other value plays: Priestahh, Illey, Havok, Classic(Large GPP)

COD DFS Stacks

Florida Mutineers: I think Florida is in the safest spot on this slate. I also am not sure why they are so cheap. NYSL barely made it past LAG today and I just can't see them getting past Florida. They are the better team in SnD and Hardpoint by quite a bit. Control is where it gets risky. NYSL is the better team but it's not by much. If NYSL wins on Control, I don't see that being too much of an issue as Neptune and Skyz can easily make it up in Hardpoint again where they have excelled at. Havok is the cheapest on the slate and that doesn't make much sense. Neptune has been playing very well in Stage 5 and Skyz hasn't slowed down all season long. Owakening is in a good spot and I don't mind his price, his production has been a little all over the place so it's a bit risky. Havok is insanely cheap and can make those lineups much easier at getting some studs on this stacked slate. He is better in the case of a sweep but has some upside in a 4 game match if he is playing well. Skyz and Neptune are definitely my favorites though, especially at their prices. Also 2,200 for the team spot? Yeah, please.

Other Team Plays: Dallas Empire, Seattle Surge, Optic Gaming, Toronto Ultra, Minnesota Rokkr (GPP)

Summary

  1. TLDR: Seattle 3-1, Florida 3-1, Dallas Empire 3-1, Optic 3-2
  2.  Seattle: Octane, Gunless, Prestinni
  3. London: Afro, PaulEhx
  4. Florida: All Players
  5. NYSL: Hydra
  6. Dallas Empire: Shotzzy, Vivid, Illey
  7. Minnesota: Standy, Priestahh, Attach
  8. Optic: All Players
  9. Toronto: All Players
