Call of Duty DFS Lineup Picks (7/24/21) - DraftKings Daily Fantasy

Koby Hanson's DraftKings DFS lineup picks for Call of Duty on 7/24/21. He analyzes the COD slates and top lineup targets for eSports DFS contests.

Hello there eSports DFS enthusiasts, and welcome back to RotoBaller's coverage of Call of Duty DFS contests for DraftKings! Welcome back to COD DFS! Welcome back to week three of stage 5. This is the last week of the stage and then we are back to LAN next week with Major 5! NYSL squeaked it out against Paris and ruined my upset call, Dallas and Optic were optimal, and Toronto made fools of Florida on Control. What a couple of days of COD it was. Also, why was Octane running an SMG?

This is easily one of my favorite sports to cover here at Rotoballer because I play a ton of COD myself and I like to think I'm pretty good at it as well. I have been following the COD League for about five years now and I finally get to put all this knowledge to the test! On Saturday we have a fantastic set of games that all could end up being close, first up we get London Royal Ravens taking on Paris Legion as they fight to not get the last place in their group, Florida Mutineers get the Minnesota Rokkr, and lastly, we have Optic Chicago looking to continue their hot streak as they take on the LA Thieves.

Today I'll be bringing you my COD DFS advice, analysis, and lineup picks for eSports DFS contests on DraftKings for Saturday, July 24th, 2021, at 3:00 PM. Feel free to follow me on Twitter @DFSKoby or find me in the slack as I am happy to engage with readers and try to answer your questions!

Call of Duty: Seattle Surge Home Series

Best of 5

  • London Royal Ravens (-125) vs. Paris Legion (-105)
  • Florida Mutineers (-175) vs. Minnesota Rokkr (+135)
  • Optic Chicago (-375) vs. LA Thieves (+260)

Slate Overview

In the first game, we get two of the bottom 4 teams in London and Paris, and honestly, these teams are going to want to just make this a bloody one. They have absolutely nothing to play for with being eliminated from Champs. That being said though, I feel like DK has London overpriced here. Paulehx hasn't been playing well and is 9,600$. That is absolutely insane. He just hasn't been putting up good numbers lately and even though they beat NYSL he only had 69 DKP. He might be able to improve slightly but at his price, it's a fade. Afro looks nice and has been playing well recently and could be a good option. On the flip side. I think Paris is being undervalued. Zaptius is insanely cheap and just had one of his best games last outing and it was a loss. I think this one is going to be close making Zap very viable. I think this one ends 3-2 in favor of Paris. London is the better hardpoint team but I think Paris is the better SnD and Control team.

This one should be a great game. Both of these teams are fighting for a 2nd place position in Major 5 and whoever wins should be on their way to locking it in. Florida was able to keep it close with Toronto on all but their last map. Florida has struggled in Control but was able to keep it close with Toronto on the Offense at least. I could definitely see this one going 4 or 5 games depending on what happens in SnD. If it goes 4 maps I think it's a 3-1 win for Florida, if it goes 5 maps it's a tossup as both teams have been fairly good at SnD. I give the slight edge to Florida though.

Lastly, where has this Optic team been all year? They look insanely dominant right now and beating Atlanta is no simple task. And looking closer at each of these game modes. LA Thieves really only chance to win is in hardpoint. They have been awful in Control and have been a mediocre SnD team. Optic on the other hand has been fantastic on Control and SnD has been a great game mode for them. And honestly, they have been a good hardpoint team as well and I think they are the more well-rounded team. The more I look into it the more I think Optic 3-0. At worst I see this going to a 3-1.

COD DFS Basics

  1. Like in CSGO, players receive two points for a kill and are penalized -1 for dying. Therefore, the simplest stat to look at here is K/D ratio.
  2. You need to roster a team slot on both sites. Teams accrue fantasy points for games won (+4), matches won (+10), and Search and Destroy rounds won (+.5).
  3. Teams will be playing best-of-five matches on a rotation of various game modes. Those modes and the order in which they are played are as follows: Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, Control, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy.
  4. In hardpoint rounds, players with positive K/D ratios are usually the highest scorers and these rounds are often the bloodiest.
  5. They also have changed a game mode from Domination to Control for League play. This is going to be a lot different in gameplay as it's round-based and not the first one to 200. They play first one to 3 round wins. You win by capturing both points or killing the enemy team until they run out of their lives. One team defends and the other attacks.
  6. There is a sweep bonus this year as teams and players both can get a 20 point player sweep and a 5 point team sweep. In the chance, they do sweep they also get granted a bonus of 20 points for not playing hardpoint and a bonus of 5 points for not playing the final Search and Destroy map. So that adds up in a sweep to a total of 45 extra points which are going to be very crucial this year.

COD DFS Captain Considerations

Skyz: Last game was a tough one for Skyz but it was against Toronto and that is always a tough matchup. Other than that game Skyz had scored at 101 DKP or better in 9 straight games. I think he starts that streak right back up starting tomorrow. This is a fantastic matchup against Minnesota, one that they have beat twice this season and I love how well Florida is currently playing. I think they are the better team by far here as they were able to beat Dallas whereas Minnesota was unable to. I think this is a great game for him to rebound on and score very well. During Stage 5, Skyz has averaged a 1.38 K/D in Hardpoint, a 1.14 in SnD, and a 1.18 K/D in Control. These are insane numbers, especially in Hardpoint. He is one of my top plays on the board.

Dashy: I think there is a good chance we see one of the highest-scoring players from Optic tomorrow. I'm gonna pick Dashy this time around as he has been spectacular in Stage 5 so far where he is averaging a 1.21 K/D in Hardpoint, a 1.03 in SnD, and a 1.22 K/D in Control. He is by far the better AR player than Slasher and the way Slasher was playing last week, this is a spot for Dashy to explode on.  Other than their game against Atlanta FaZe, Dashy's DKP score has been 134, 130, and 107 during stage 5. There is a good chance we see something around those numbers again and I really like this spot for them with how well Optic is playing as a team. Envoy and FormaL are great pivots as well and can also explode as they are all viable at this point.

Other captain plays: Envoy, Aqua, Afro, FormaL, Neptune, Standy

COD DFS Value Plays

Zaptius: This might be a first for Zap to make the article. He had a fantastic game in their 3-2 loss against NYSL and is probably one of his highest-scoring days as well. These last two games for him have been great. At 6,200 as well makes him extremely interesting because plugging that in basically gets you whatever you want in your lineup. I think this game is going to end up being close and I think Zaptius is the better SMG player than Alexx and it should be close with Afro. During his last two games, Zaptius is averaging a 1.11 K/D in Hardpoint, a 1.18 in SnD, and a 1.00 in Control. This is a great spot for him and hopefully can continue to play well.

Scump:  I honestly don't know how you don't lock him in at this price, it is too good. 7k for someone who can easily put up 100+ DKP in a great matchup with their being a good chance at a sweep too. That's just too good. So far in Stage 5, Scump is averaging a 1.01 K/D in hardpoint, a 1.18 in SnD, and a 1.09 in Control. That is too good of a K/D to be at 7k. They really messed up at putting him at this price. It's definitely a cash play as he is going to be super high owned but he is so cheap and will help you get a lot of what you want in your lineup.

Other value plays: Priestahh, Neptune, Alexx(Punt), Attach(GPP), Drazah(GPP)

COD DFS Stacks

Optic Chicago: A lot of what I said in my last article can be also said here, so I'm going to make this short and sweet. Optic has swept 3 of their 4 opponents in Stage 5 and even beat FaZe. They are playing at a fantastic level right now and need to win this one to get the Group A first seed. So I don't see them choking this one away. I don't think you can be wrong with any of the players on the team as they are all playing at a high level, one player you might want to get though is Scump. 7k... DraftKings messed up. I highly recommend you don't fade him as he is playing super well right now and I understand he is going to be high owned but that's too cheap for how well he is playing right now. Mix and match with the rest of the guys. Dashy, Envoy, and Formal in that order are my favorites.

Other Team Plays: Florida Mutineers, Paris Legion, London RR

Summary

  1. TLDR: Paris 3-2, Florida 3-1, Optic 3-0
  2. London: Afro, Alexx(Punt)
  3. Paris: Aqua, Skrapz, Zaptius(value)
  4. Florida: Skyz, Neptune, Owakening
  5. Minnesota: Standy, Priestahh
  6. Optic: All Players
  7. LA Thieves: Drazah
