Houston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez was placed on the injured list on Wednesday, according to MLB.com's Brian McTaggart. It was reported earlier in the day that Alvarez would not be in Wednesday's lineup for "health and safety reasons," and now his move to the IL allows the team to gain an additional bat on the bench. In the corresponding move, the Astros recalled infielder Taylor Jones, who remains on the bench for Wednesday's game. Managers should continue to monitor for updates, but be prepared for Alvarez to miss some time once again, as he has already missed six games this year due to COVID-19 protocols.--Michael
