Call of Duty DFS Lineup Picks (4/29/21) - DraftKings Daily Fantasy

Koby Hanson's DraftKings DFS lineup picks for Call of Duty on 4/29/21. He analyzes the COD slates and top lineup targets for eSports DFS contests.

Hello there eSports DFS enthusiasts, and welcome back to RotoBaller's coverage of Call of Duty DFS contests for DraftKings! Welcome to the start of the third stage of the 2021 CDL Season! Back to another weekend of COD DFS! Last weekend we saw, Atlanta takes another loss as NYSL looked much better in their Stage 3 debut along with rookie Hydra being added to the lineup. LA Thieves did their thing against London Royal Ravens, and we finished it off with a Toronto Ultra showing they mean absolute business and came and brought the brooms out against Dallas.

This is easily one of my favorite sports to cover here at Rotoballer because I play a ton of COD myself and I like to think I'm pretty good at it as well. I have been following the COD League for about five years now and I finally get to put all this knowledge to the test! My Name is Koby and I'll be here all season long to help guide you through the COD DFS world. We have an interesting set of games, We have a bunch of top teams against those at the bottom. This means we have a chalk fest. I do have a feeling one of these teams gets upset and I'm not sure which one happens. We have London taking on NYSL, Atlanta gets LA Thieves to round out Thursday. On Friday we have Toronto Ultra taking on LA Guerrillas, and Minnesota Rokkr gets Paris Legion.

Today I'll be bringing you my COD DFS advice, analysis, and lineup picks for eSports DFS contests on DraftKings for Thursday-Friday, April 29th-3oth, 2021, at 3:00 PM. Feel free to follow me on Twitter @DFSKoby or find me in the slack as I am happy to engage with readers and try to answer your questions!

Call of Duty: Paris Legion Home Series

Best of 5

  • NY Subliners vs. London Royal Ravens
  • Atlanta FaZe vs. LA Thieves
  • Toronto Ultra vs. LA Guerrillas
  • Minnesota Rokkr vs. Paris Legion

Slate Overview

NY Subliners pulled off the upset in Round 11 of Game 5. Absolutely crazy match to watch on Sunday afternoon. The addition of Hydra is looking like a great move so far as he helped propel this team to a win over the top team in the league currently. They are also fairly cheap. This will be the first game Hydra is added to the DK slate and we get him at crazy cheap. I would expect him to be high-owned in such a great matchup against the bottom dwellers of London. London has lost 6 straight now and I don't see that ending here against the Subliners. I can't say for sure this will be a sweep as London has won at least one map in Stage 3, with one of those being control and the other being in hardpoint. NYSL has been one of the better Hardpoint teams in the league and I don't see them winning there. I think if London has a chance at winning one map it will be in Control, otherwise, this might be a sweep by NYSL.

This game is now very interesting, with Atlanta taking another loss, I think LA Thieves has a decent shot at this game and will definitely make it more difficult for them. Their only struggle so far with drazah has been hardpoint. They have been killing it in Control and have improved a lot in SnD. Kenny is playing like an absolute monster right now and went +38 on the day against London. They are going to need Kenny and Drazah to step up big if they want to take this one against Atlanta. I still think Atlanta wins this one but LA Thieves have improved a lot and they could be a dangerous matchup for Atlanta. Atlanta is very expensive today and they might be a fade for tomorrow's slate. With a sweep not as likely, other teams are much more appealing.

Toronto is the real deal. I'm sold. They now get the LA Guerrillas who looked good in their sweep of Paris Legion but this is a whole other beast. Toronto is out for blood and oddly enough, they are cheap. Other than Insight who is an absolute monster, Everyone is else is 8,600 or less. Bance and CleanX are playing very well which is odd for Bance. Toronto has now won 6 straight and three of those by sweep. With big wins over Atlanta and Dallas twice. They are dominating competition right now. LA Guerrillas looked really good with the addition to Cheen, so I do think that LA Guerrillas is our most likely upset of the three big favorites but even then I'm fairly confident in Toronto coming out and destroying LAG.

Lastly, we have Minnesota Rokkr taking on Paris Legion, this will be a good matchup to finish the night out. Minnesota is coming off a rough loss against Florida and is going to be looking for a rebound and what better of a game than against Paris Legion who are definitely finding themselves struggling to get a win. They have won 1 map in their last three games and now get Minnesota Rokkr who has shown with Standy that they can make big moves and win games. Priestahh is really starting to find his stride and Standy is one of the top rookies of this season. Attach has been doing pretty well also and has the veteran experience to help as well. Accuracy has struggled ever since that dreaded meta change and has regressed quite a lot. Minnesota should be able to get it together though and win this match pretty favorably.

COD DFS Basics

  1. Like in CSGO, players receive two points for a kill and are penalized -1 for dying. Therefore, the simplest stat to look at here is K/D ratio. However, players can also earn fantasy points for planting or defusing bombs (three points each) in Search and Destroy rounds, so there are some players who we can target for other skills besides their ability to kill the opponent.
  2. You need to roster a team slot on both sites. Teams accrue fantasy points for games won (+4), matches won (+10), and Search and Destroy rounds won (+.5).
  3. Teams will be playing best-of-five matches on a rotation of various game modes. Those modes and the order in which they are played are as follows: Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, Control, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy.
  4. In hardpoint rounds, players with positive K/D ratios are usually the highest scorers and these rounds are often the bloodiest.
  5. They also have changed a game mode from Domination to Control for League play. This is going to be a lot different in gameplay as it's round-based and not the first one to 200. They play first one to 3 round wins. You win by capturing both points or killing the enemy team until they run out of their lives. One team defends and the other attacks.
  6. There is a sweep bonus this year as teams and players both can get a 20 point player sweep and a 5 point team sweep. In the chance, they do sweep they also get granted a bonus of 20 points for not playing hardpoint and a bonus of 5 points for not playing the final Search and Destroy map. So that adds up in a sweep to a total of 45 extra points which are going to be very crucial this year.

COD DFS Captain Considerations

Insight: Insight might be my favorite play on the slate, he has massive upside in 3 map games as in his last two he has had 150 and 125 DKP. He is playing very well and I like the discount we are getting on him compared to some of the top guys on the slate. He is only 9,600 and easily has 120+ DKP scoring ability in these games. In a match that should be a quick one for them against LAG, I could definitely see him scoring in that range once again. They demolished Florida and Dallas so far in this stage and Dallas is much better than LAG. This should be a very quick game and Toronto should score very well in doing so. They are very cheap for some reason even though they are on a 6 game win streak and are one of the best teams in the league. It's time they get some respect, I know I didn't give it to them for a while but they have shown they are here to stay and make big moves in the CDL. Insight is 3rd in the league in Overall K/D at 1.15, 4th in Hardpoint at 1.17, 1st in the league in SnD at 1.52, and just a 1.0 in Control.

Standy: Who would have thought two rookies would be killing the game this season. Standy gets a fantastic matchup against Paris Legion, he has 3 games so far with 124+ DKP out of his 5 games scored on DK. His other two came in a brutal loss against Dallas and a game where no one showed up against Florida. Minnesota should be able to rebound and bring their team back into control against one of the worst teams in the league. For Paris adding Temp might have helped them a little bit but definitely not enough. They need quite a bit more to fix their team. Paris just got swept by LAG too and Minnesota is quite a bit better team than LAG, this should be the same result. Standy is quite a bit expensive, but with how much great value there is on this slate, it shouldn't be too difficult to grab anyone at the captain spot. Standy is averaging 1.03 overall K/D, a 1.0 in hardpoint, 1.12 in SnD, and 1.08 in Control.

Other captain plays: Simp, CleanX, Kenny, Clayster, Attach

COD DFS Value Plays

Hydra: Hydra had 96 DKP in his first CDL game as a Pro against one of the best teams in the league. That is fantastic. Obviously, DK didn't do their research though as Hydra was a top prospect and has been killing it in the Challengers Scene. Cause we get Hydra at a whopping 6,600 against one of the worst teams in the league! London is struggling horribly right now and NYSL should be able to dominate them from start to finish. Hydra is in a fantastic position to pull off a big win. We have minimal stats on Hydra but so far he has a 1.26 K/D in hardpoint and a 1.04 K/D in Control. Atlanta has been one of the best hardpoint teams in the league this year and NYSL with the help of Hydra was able to take them out in both hardpoint games. Even if this happens to go 4 games, Hydra is a fantastic play for very cheap with a high upside.

Priestahh: I have to go right back to him, he is too cheap. He has shown time and time again that he can compete and score very well. Yet is still 6,200. He has 100+ DKP in 4 of his last 5 matches and his most recent he had 110 in a loss against Florida. He gets a great matchup against Paris who is struggling heavily right now. He is averaging over 1.0 K/D since Standy joining the roster and it has benefited him greatly. He is playing well in Hardpoint and Control which is where he is going to get all of his kills. He has also improved in SnD a bit as well as long as he goes even in SnD, I'll be happy with his performance. He is an elite play at such a cheap price, it's going to be hard to pass up.

Other value plays: Bance, CleanX, Clayster, Mack

COD DFS Stacks

NYSL: Subliners really just took down Atlanta FaZe in Hydra's debut. I really thought this would make for a tough game for him to start in but man was I wrong as he and Clayster were the only ones to go positive on the team. It was a great start to the rookie's CDL career. And a great way to start Stage 3 for NYSL. They struggled coming down to the end of the 2nd Major as they were swept by Dallas and LA Thieves to knock them out. This looked like a much better game for NYSL and that gives me a lot of hope for this team coming into the 3rd Stage. Clayster looked a lot better than his previous two games, so I definitely like him the most especially at his price. Hydra is next as he started hot and I expect that to continue, plus he is dirt cheap at 6,600. Asim has been getting a lot of kills recently, but his problem was similar to Vivid as he just dies a lot. He leads his team in Engagements per game but also dying a lot more than anyone else on the team. He is risky at his price but has upside in a great matchup. Mack has improved recently but just hasn't scored really well this season and for 400$ more I'd rather just go to Clayster.

Toronto Ultra: Toronto has been killing it, and I can't see them stopping here against the LA Guerrillas. They did look better but this is still the same inconsistent team that is going to choke more than likely. Toronto has won 6 straight now against top opponents and now get LA Guerrillas who has been at the bottom nearly the whole season. All these guys are playing really well right now. Insight and CleanX are definitely my top plays from Toronto with Cammy not too far behind. All three of these guys are playing really well and also scoring insanely well. Most of them averaging over 100 DKP. CleanX has 100+ in 5 of his last 6 games and is 7,800. I can't really knock on Bance recently as he has been playing much better and really showed up in the finals against Atlanta. But he is very inconsistent and can drop off the face of the earth at any given time. Plus I don't think you need to grab him with CleanX only being 400$ more.

Other Team Plays: Minnesota ROKKR, Atlanta FaZe, LA Thieves(GPP)

Summary

  1. TLDR: NYSL 3-0, Atlanta 3-2, Toronto 3-0, Minnesota 3-0
  2. I think Atlanta garners quite a bit of ownership but I think the move is to go on the lower side of that.
  3. Toronto and Minnesota are my favorite stacks on this slate
  4. NYSL will get quite a bit of ownership being up against London, but Hydra is so cheap and worth the ownership
  5. For GPP, LAG and LAT will be lower owned plays that I don't mind.
