Koby Hanson's DraftKings DFS lineup picks for Call of Duty on 4/04/21. He analyzes the COD slates and top lineup targets for eSports DFS contests.

Hello there eSports DFS enthusiasts, and welcome back to RotoBaller's coverage of Call of Duty DFS contests for DraftKings! Welcome everyone to Stage 2 of COD League! Minnesota almost choked and I was about to be very upset but they made the comeback and completed the reverse sweep. Florida didn't look great besides Neptune and Skyz as they lost to Paris. Last but not least. Clay had his worst game of the season as he went -22 in an NYSL 3-1 win. Asim and Mack carried this team to a victory. 

 This is easily one of my favorite sports to cover here at Rotoballer because I play a ton of COD myself and I like to think I'm pretty good at it as well. I have been following the COD League for about five years now and I finally get to put all this knowledge to the test! My Name is Koby and I'll be here all season long to help guide you through the COD DFS world. Welcome back to another great weekend of COD DFS! Now, do we have a set of matches that should be close. Atlanta is coming off their first loss of the season and takes on London who has lost 2 straight since winning their first two games of the season and I don't see them winning this one either, but I guess I didn't with LAG either so here we are. Optic takes on Dallas Empire. and the battle of LA comes back again for a rematch as the Thieves take on the Guerrillas after their massive upset against Atlanta!

  • Atlanta FaZe (-1200) vs. London Royal Ravens (+600)

  • Optic Chicago (-105) vs. Dallas Empire (-125)

 

Slate Overview

I seriously didn't see FaZe losing like that especially how bad they lost in SnD, in Game 5 they lost 6-0. That's really bad. I honestly think that it was a fluke game, they might have even been overlooking that game and just got shocked that LAG came to really play. I think Atlanta comes into this one ready though and they come out and win this one. London looked good to start but PaulEhx had reality hit him and he hasn't been able to recreate his first two games of the season. FaZe by sweep or a 3-1 win.

Now this one is going to be close. LAG is going to be riding high after a big upset on FaZe. And this is the first time we are seeing LA Thieves this week after a rough start to Stage 2. They have plenty of time to prepare for specifically this game and I think that is a big advantage coming into this. I had written this one up as a LA Thieves win originally... News just came out that there is no Kenny now. Temp is Subbing in. LAG could come out and win this game now. It will be a very close one. LAG beat LAT in the first Major about a month ago, and they definitely could have the confidence coming into this one to beat them once again. They are at an advantage now. I think it a good time to grab them.

Oh, did you think the previous game was gonna be close? This one is going to be crazy. It really could go either way but Dallas has been in better form recently as Optic has lost 2 of their last 3 games with their most recent win coming in a sweep against Seattle. They looked a lot better in that game though and should be able to make this competitive. I think Dallas pulls this one out though unless Dashy is really back to play as Envoy and FormaL really carried the last game to a win. Illey and Shotzzy are playing very well and shotzzy is back in MVP form. Huke is pretty expensive but did look better last game.

 

COD DFS Basics

  1. Like in CSGO, players receive two points for a kill and are penalized -1 for dying. Therefore, the simplest stat to look at here is K/D ratio. However, players can also earn fantasy points for planting or defusing bombs (three points each) in Search and Destroy rounds, so there are some players who we can target for other skills besides their ability to kill the opponent.
  2. You need to roster a team slot on both sites. Teams accrue fantasy points for games won (+4), matches won (+10), and Search and Destroy rounds won (+.5).
  3. Teams will be playing best-of-five matches on a rotation of various game modes. Those modes and the order in which they are played are as follows: Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, Control, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy.
  4. In hardpoint rounds, players with positive K/D ratios are usually the highest scorers and these rounds are often the bloodiest.
  5. They also have changed a game mode from Domination to Control for League play. This is going to be a lot different in gameplay as it's round-based and not the first one to 200. They play first one to 3 round wins. You win by capturing both points or killing the enemy team until they run out of their lives. One team defends and the other attacks.
  6. There is a sweep bonus this year as teams and players both can get a 20 point player sweep and a 5 point team sweep. In the chance, they do sweep they also get granted a bonus of 20 points for not playing hardpoint and a bonus of 5 points for not playing the final Search and Destroy map. So that adds up in a sweep to a total of 45 extra points which are going to be very crucial this year.

COD DFS Captain Considerations

Abezy: This is definitely your cash captain play, I love how explosive Abezy is and how many kills he can get. Even though they lost to LAG, Abezy still had nearly 70 kills. He just had a rough night when it comes to deaths. I really think it was a fluke of a game and they weren't prepared for LAG to come out and play as they did. They thought it was going to be easy. Im sure they reevaluated and are going to be ready for a London team that has struggled the last two games. Abezy has been one of the most consistent players from Atlanta FaZe this year and has shown he can be elite in this league. He is one of the top players in the league in SnD and Control so far this season and is also averaging 1.09 K/D on the season. He's one of the best options at captain and we always get him at a cheaper price compared to Simp which is something I love to get.

Envoy: In this game, I really think Envoy or Shotzzy is definitely the best plays. Both players are heating up and Envoy looked so much better in his last game against Seattle than he did in the previous two games they lost. This game should be a bloody one and the last outing between these two teams was a 5 game heater where both Shotzzy and Envoy dropped 114 DKP. Envoy even in the sweep against Florida he still had 100 DKP, which is something I love to find in players, is if they can still score well in games that the team lost as a whole but maybe not specific players. Envoy has been one of the best Hardpoint players this year and I think that's something that is going to be crucial in this game. He spends a lot of time in the hardpoint at nearly a minute and a half per match and is 4th in KP10M and K/D in hardpoint. He has been a solid 100 points this season and is averaging 106 DKP. This should be a great play in what should be a bloody match.

Other captain plays: Huke, Simp, Slasher, Cellium, Shotzzy, Envoy

 

COD DFS Value Plays

Illey: I hate mentioning Illey every time he plays but DK has still yet to price him up yet. And he is playing the best COD all year long. His last three games have been better than his teammates. This new patch has benefited Illey tremendously and as long as he continues to play well, he is someone I'm going to be targeting until he starts to play poorly or until he becomes too expensive to roster. In the last three games, he has had 116, 123, 105 DKP. This is all something I want out of a sub 8k player. He is killing it right now and if this match goes to 5 games as I expect it too, then Illey could be in for another 110+ DKP performance. I'm all over Illey and he will more than likely be one of the highest owned players.

SiLLY: I know the last time I mentioned SiLLY, he choked. With Kenny being out of this match, this hurts LA Thieves a lot. I really like LAG in this match now and definitely have a feeling they win this one. If they do SiLLY is going to be a top play for LAG. He helped lead this team to a big victory over Atlanta to give them their first loss. In his last three games, he has had 101 DKP on average. In the last outing against LAT, he had 64 kills in a 3-0 sweep. This is something that could happen with Temp subbing in for Kenny, and there is a reason Temp got benched... Thieves took a big hit in Kenny being out. SiLLY is only 7,600 and the rest of LAG is even cheaper. They are in a good spot as a whole and might be low-owned as well.

Other value plays: Vivid, Assault, Arcitys, Venom(PUNT)

 

COD DFS Stacks 

Atlanta: Atlanta had a rough game, They got absolutely smoked in SnD and that really hurt their scores. They won on Control and split the hardpoints. Atlanta has been one of the best teams in the league all year long and now is not the time to hop off of them. Abezy and Simp are playing at elite levels right now and Cellium has been a fantastic 3rd for them. Arcitys has struggled and I think that really hurt them in this game against LAG. They might have been looking ahead and knowing that they don't quite have the first seed locked up they are going to have to play hard to make sure they get this win. London has been a decent team recently but the last two games have just looked awful where they have lost to NYSL and even got swept by Toronto. Atlanta should be able to come in and take care of London pretty quickly and lock up that first seed for the 2nd Major of the year is coming up very soon. Simp hasn't quite looked himself recently and that worries me slightly especially at his price, Abezy and Cellium are great pivots.

Optic/Dallas: I wanted to talk about this game specifically because I think it could be the game that has the most relevance to a GPP line. It's going to be bloody and there are going to be a lot of kills. I have a feeling this game will go to 5 games, and that's exactly what happened the last time these two teams played. It was an extremely close match that also went to 5 games. They split the SnD and Optic won Control. Dallas won both hardpoints. Im expecting about the same outcomes. This is definitely a game you could pick and choose which players from both teams to play. The players I'm specifically looking at though are Envoy, Shotzzy, Illey, and FormaL. The others are definitely in play as well but I like the mix of recent performance and price point to go along with them. Dashy and Huke have been underperforming recently and are very expensive to try and get as well. C6 is definitely your GPP play from Dallas and Scump has just been mediocre all year and isn't worth much in a 5 game match as he just dies way too much. Envoy is playing very well currently and looks to be in better form than Dashy who is 600$ more.

Other Team Plays: LA Guerrillas, LA Thieves(GPP)

NOTE: KENNY is out with Covid... Do not play him, he will not be participating in this event! I think this plays into LAG more as this might help them win more than likely.

 

Summary

  1. TLDR: Atlanta 3-0, LAG 3-1, Dallas 3-2
  2. Atlanta is Cash Stack.
  3. Optic/Dallas game is more than likely going to end up in the Optimal lineup.
  4. I'm on LAG now that Kenny is out. SiLLY and Assault are the top plays from LAG, LA Thieves will be higher owned too.
