Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Pickups - Week 9

We're heading into the ninth week of NFL football now. Time flies and all that, right? Week 8 was one of those weeks where it can be hard to watch football, as the matchups weren't great and the best teams kept winning and anyone who had to play against Tevin Coleman had a really bad day.

It's not a great week to be looking for a wide receiver on waivers. Some of the players who would be better options this week are going to be on bye in Week 9 -- Auden Tate, Russell Gage, Josh Reynolds -- which leaves us with a waiver wire that doesn't look nearly as appealing as you'd like it to look.

Not all options are the same. Some players may be better in PPR or deeper leagues, so it’s not a one-size-fits-all comparison. WR Waiver Wire - Free Agents To Consider Adding

Cole Beasley, Buffalo Bills - 24% owned

Beasley was targeted seven times in a game where the Bills struggled and completed just 16 passes. He caught three of those for 41 yards and a touchdown. Beasley is a reliable underneath option for Josh Allen and most weeks won't feature the terrible winds that affected Allen's passes throughout. Beasley's a good pickup in PPR leagues.

Anthony Miller, Chicago Bears - 11% owned

Three catches for 67 yards in Week 8. Five catches for 64 yards in Week 7. Four catches for 52 yards before the bye. Miller's been pretty consistent over the past few games and has a meeting coming up with the Eagles and their notorious weak secondary. If you've got a receiver on a bye, Miller makes plenty of sense as a replacement option.

Randall Cobb, Dallas Cowboys - 10% owned

In the season opener against the Giants, Cobb caught four passes for 69 yards and a touchdown. In Week 9, the Cowboys play the Giants again. Cobb hasn't had a huge role this year, but against this Giants Defense, he's got deep league flex appeal and is available in 90 percent of leagues still.

Danny Amendola, Detroit Lions - 9% owned

Amendola had a hot start to the year and then ended up not doing much for awhile. But Sunday's eight-catch, 95-yard game was the second eight-catch game in a row as Amendola is becoming a strong option in a potent Lions receiving attack. Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones Jr. seem to be trading off games in terms of effectiveness, but Amendola's role in the slot has a chance to be pretty steady moving forward.

Darius Slayton, New York Giants - 4% owned

Slayton caught two of his five targets for 50 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Week 8. The touchdowns to catches ratio there is really good, and the rookie is turning into an interesting player. The volume's not necessarily there, but the upside is and Slayton's worth a bench spot in deeper leagues.

Willie Snead, Baltimore Ravens - 3% owned

I don't necessarily endorse starting anyone against the Patriots Defense, but Snead -- who was targeted just once in Week 7 before Baltimore's bye -- did have 10 targets in Weeks 5 and 6, so if you desperately need to chase opportunities in a deep league, Snead makes more sense than other players might.

Chris Conley, Jacksonville Jaguars - 2% owned

Dede Westbrook exited early in Week 8 with a shoulder injury that he'd reaggravated. With him gone, Conley caught four of his seven targets for 103 yards and a touchdown. With a plus matchup against the Texans Defense coming up, Conley could be worth a look in deeper leagues in the short term if Westbrook isn't ready to go next week.

Hunter Renfrow, Oakland Raiders - 1% owned

Renfrow caught all four of his targets for 88 yards and a touchdown. I don't think this is going to be an every week kind of thing, especially with Tyrell Williams back, but Renfrow's role should be expanding and Derek Carr has been a very efficient passer this year, which should help Renfrow as well.
