FanDuel NBA DFS Lineup Picks (2/28/18): Daily Fantasy Basketball Advice

Daniel Marcus highlights the top FanDuel NBA DFS lineup picks for 2/28/18, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.

We've got a big NBA Wednesday, with nine games on the main slate. Like Tuesday, the options at guard are largely uninspiring. However, there are options at forward with injuries in Charlotte and there could be news throughout the day regarding tanking teams such as the Hawks, Grizzlies, and Suns that could open value.

As it currently stands, James Harden is a strong potential building block, but the Rockets have played at the slowest pace in the NBA over the past 10 games and the Clippers have been surprisingly effective defensively ranking among league average in defensive efficiency in that same span. That said, there is a case that Harden could be a fade tonight. Speaking of fading, Anthony Davis isn't going to be a major part of my plans for tonight's slate. Paying down at the other PF position should be easy and there are potential values at SF that would open up the cap, but jamming him in against the slow-paced Spurs isn't ideal at a whopping $12,500 price tag.

Below you will find our daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for FanDuel on 2/28/18. These DFS lineup picks can vary from higher-priced players and elite options, to lower-priced players and value picks on FanDuel. You can also read more DFS lineup picks for DraftKings and other sports too.

FanDuel DFS Guards

Eric Bledsoe - PG, @DET ($7,900)

Bledsoe makes me uneasy based mostly on the fact that he’s on the back end of a back-to-back and is coming off a game in which he played 35 minutes. However, there is next to no apparent value on the slate at the the point guard position, meaning I’ll look to matchups to try to differentiate between options. Bledsoe draws the Pistons tonight, who launched themselves into the spotlight by landing Blake Griffin prior to the trade deadline. Give that, it’s unsurprising that during their recent tailspin the focus has revolved around Griffon’s offensive struggles. Less talked about is the fact that the Pistons have gone from a 105.5 defensive rating over the course of the season to 110.7 over past five games. Opposing point guards have been a major beneficiary of this trend, so even with Bledsoe being a volatile play of late the matchup provides reason for optimism.

Jrue Holiday - SG, @SA ($8,000)

The pace at which the Spurs’ play is often enough to make me shy away from playing high-priced opposing players, but Holiday’s price tag is way out of touch with his recent production. Not only that, but the Spurs have surprisingly allowed nearly 60 FD points per game to opposing shooting guards over their past five games. Depending on how many people will try to jam Anthony Davis into their lineup, Holiday could be a nice pivot in GPP contests and is a near lock for me in cash games due to the way he is mispriced.

FanDuel DFS Forwards

Harrison Barnes - SF, vs. OKC ($5,900)

Barnes’ price point is at its lowest since early November at just $5,900. Despite his shortcomings in failing to provide any fantasy output beside scoring, this is a really nice price point for him as throughout the season he would have returned 5X value 53% of the time, 6X value 29% of the time, and 7X value 9% at $5,900 The rest of the context of this game is also good for Barnes as the Thunder remain exceptionally vulnerable to opposing wings in the absence of Andre Roberson.

Frank Kaminsky - PF, @BOS ($4.400)

Both Dwight Howard and Cody Zeller left Tuesday’s action banged up and questionable to play in Wednesday’s contest against the Celtics. Kaminsky is a player I’m a bit gun shy on as I always seem to roster him for his dud efforts and miss out when he returns 8X. However, he’s been on a good run of late, returning 4.9X value over his past five games. Assuming either Howard or Zeller is out, or potentially even both, Kaminsky becomes a good cash game option with some potential in GPP contests as well.

LaMarcus Aldridge - PF, vs. NO ($8,700)

I’m not prepared to pay 12.5K for a player in a matchup against one of the slowest paced teams in the league, meaning Anthony Davis won’t be taking up one of my power forward spots on Wednesday night. Instead, I’ll pay down to the next best option at power forward in Aldridge. Pau Gasol appears unlikely to play on Wednesday and when neither Gasol or Leonard are on the floor with Aldridge, he sees a usage bump of around 3% and records 1.24 FD points per minute. That makes him a solid option to build around on this slate and avoid the massive price tag for Anthony Davis.

Also Consider: Jeremy Lamb - SF, @BOS ($4,400); Jarell Martin - PF, vs. PHO ($4,100)

FanDuel DFS Centers

Steven Adams - C, @DAL ($7,600)

Dallas is one of the best teams to use bigs against when Brooklyn isn’t on the slate. Indiana is another option to target, but tonight that is less appealing as the Hawks rotation of bigs is unpredictable. That said, I’ll focus on Adams’ matchup against the Mavs. His scoring is relatively steady as he can be counted on to score 14-18 points per game, but where he makes value is with his defensive stats. He should be in a good position to soak up plenty of boards as the Mavs have the worst rebounding rate in the league, and be a nice cash game with a safe floor as a result. Interestingly, Adams has been pretty terrible in his two games against the Mavs on the season, but I’ll bet on the season long sample over a two-game sample.

Also Consider: Marc Gasol - C, vs. PHO ($7,200)
