Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks (8/6/17): MLB Advice for FanDuel and DraftKings

Welcome back to another edition of Sunday DFS picks and advice. Today we have a gorgeous 11 game main slate on both sites, which is a rare occurrence these days. We have a number of upper-end pitchers to choose from today, as well as plenty of low-low-end guys to stack against, which means you better bring your A game because the cash lines should be high.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 8/6/17. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @RowdyRotoJB.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider

Chris Archer, TB vs MIL (DK - $11,300, FD - $10,500)

No need to get cute in cash contests today. It just so happens that the best pitcher on the slate also has the best match-up, so pay the man whatever he wants. Only Corey Kluber and Max Scherzer own a higher K/9 at home than Archer's 12.14, while his OPS-allowed is almost a full 100 points less than on the road. In his last home start he sat down 11 Rangers via the strikeout over seven one-run innings.

Today Archer will feast on the Brewers lineup that owns the lowest OPS over the last seven days AND the most strikeouts in the league against RHP this season. To make matters worse, Travis Shaw unfortunately left yesterday's game after being struck in the neck on a steal attempt. Like I said... pay up!

Jose Berrios, MIN at TEX (DK - $7,300, FD - $9,000)

Berrios is quite the steal on DraftKings today, and makes for the perfect boom-or-bust GPP pick against the Rangers. Texas has struck out the fourth most over the last seven days, and has the fifth most whiffs against RHP this season. That's the boom. Now for the bust, Texas is the fourth best run-scoring offense at home, and the weather forecast looks a little sketch in Arlington today. Don't let Berrios come anywhere near your cash lineups, but it'd be wise to have at least one share of the youngster in GPP contests.

Also consider: Jimmy Nelson, MIL at TB (DK - $8,600, FD - $8,900) Sets up nicely for a contrarian play squaring off against Chris Archer while bringing similar K upside; Doug Fister, BOS vs CWS (DK - $5,000, FD - $6,400) That DraftKings price, though! Coming off his best start of the year, at home versus an awful White Sox lineup.

DFS Infielders to Consider

Yadier Molina - C, STL at CIN (DK - $4,700, FD - $3,100)

The NYSE isn't the only market hitting record highs lately, DraftKings catcher prices are booming right now. But I mean, they did give us Fister for 5K to make up for it. Yadi is in a great spot today facing off against appropriately-named HOMER Bailey. He is 13-36 against Bailey for his career, with three doubles and three dongs- and only three strikeouts. Also, if you've read more than two of my pieces this season you know I love Great American Ballpark bats. Molina seems to share my infatuation, because through 90 games and 353 PA, he is hitting .319 with an .847 OPS at GAB. He's giving you the rare "BvP and BvB" bonus bump today. Don't waste it.

Eric Hosmer - 1B, KC vs SEA (DK - $3,700, FD - $3,400)

I love the price points here for a guy that hit .379 with six HR in July. Today his ownership may dip a bit with the Lefty on Lefty match-up, but Hosmer fears no man- especially a youngster like Marco Gonzales who served up three long balls in 3 1/3 innings in his only start this season. Hosmer has hit southpaws to the tune of .314/.353/.464 in 2017 and has hit 10 of his 16 bombs at Kauffman Stadium.

Whit Merrifield - 2B, KC vs SEA (DK - $3,800, FD - $3,300)

We're going to stay out in KC for a minute, because Hosmer isn't the only Royals hitter who's had a slow week but absolutely destroyed the month of July. Merrifield hit .330 with five bombs last month, and is slashing .308/.366/.538 against LHP this season. Of course, he has also hit 7 of his 11 dongs at Kauffman, where his OPS is 140 points higher than on the road.

Rafael Devers - 3B, BOS vs CWS (DK - $4,400, FD - $3,600)

The kid just keeps smashing. Since his call up 10 games ago, he has 14 hits, five of which have gone for extra bases. Today he gets a treat in the form of Mike Pelfrey, which will feel an awful lot like what he has faced the entire season down in the Minors. Pelfrey has allowed 11 HR to LHB this season, equating to a .525 SLG. The Red Sox bats gave heated up recently, and I expect the fireworks to continue today in front of the home crowd.

Also Consider: Eugenio Suarez - 3B, CIN vs STL (DK - $3,900, FD - $2,800)

Tim Beckham - SS, BAL vs DET (DK - $4,900, FD - $2,800)

FanDuel has granted us a gift! Beckham has now homered in three straight games in his new Orioles uniform, and has scored over 20 FP (FD) in four straight. Sure the wheels will fall off this wagon very soon, but at this point you kind of have to hop in for the ride, especially with Anibal Sanchez on the bump today. Beckham has fared better versus RHP all season, whereas Sanchez is allowing a .545 SLG to RHB.

Also Consider: Paul DeJong - SS, STL at CIN (DK - $4,600, FD - $2,800)

DFS Outfielders to Consider

Andrew McCutchen - OF, PIT vs SDP (DK - $5,200, FD - $3,900)

At this point, I am willing to pay whatever to roster Cutch against a left handed pitcher. For the season, he still owns a redonkulous 1.234 OPS versus southpaws, which is second in the league to only Nolan Arenado. In his 10 career PA against Clayton Richard, Cutch is 3-7 with a HR, three BB, and zero strikeouts. This is about as safe as it gets in DFS.

Tommy Pham - OF, STL at CIN (DK - $4,700, FD - $3,500)

Since we are on the topic of safe options in DFS, Tommy Pham away from Busch Stadium has to be up there in the vicinity of Cutch versus LHP. Pham has been one of my favorite OF plays all season, has hits in 11 straight starts, and is boasting a 1.074 OPS with 11 of his 14 HR on the road. His .635 road SLG is top 10 in the league, and once again, it's always easy to pick on HOMER Bailey.

Jackie Bradley Jr. - OF, BOS vs CWS (DK - $3,400, FD - $2,500)

LHB on a hot offense versus Mike Pelfrey. This is dirt cheap relative to his high floor today.
