Recent Update

8/30:Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Travis Shaw was removed from another game Tuesday as a precaution. He has repeatedly fouled balls off his foot lately and so they took him out of the game after the latest one. Shaw has been an extremely important part of the Brewers offense so the other starting players on his team would like him to stop this recent trend. Shaw has also been a strong fantasy option this season.--Jamie Mellor - RotoBaller

Beat Writer Chatter

  • @Haudricourt: Shaw lines a single to RF so hard that Walker has to hold at third base. Martin would have had him at plate. Santana is up.
  • @Haudricourt: Davis hits Braun with a pitch and Walker moves to second as the potential winning run. Travis Shaw up, sitting on 96 RBI.
  • @Haudricourt: Edwards now catches Shaw looking at 2-2 breaking ball for strike three. I'm detecting a pattern here.
  • @Haudricourt: Shaw got in front of a 2-1 curveball and popped it up. #Brewers are done in the first inning.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Strikeouts by Piña and Walker leave Shaw stranded at second and the Brewers’ lead at 4-3. Anthony Swarzak in for the eighth.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Shaw opens the eighth with a double to right-center.
  • @AdamMcCalvy: Travis Shaw's double play ball traveled 1.49 feet, according to @Statcast.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Santana leads off with a walk, but Braun strikes out and Shaw taps into a 2-6-3 double play and that’s that in the sixth.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Brault has also made way for Tyler Glasnow, who will face Santana-Braun-Shaw.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Travis Shaw draws a leadoff walk from Brault and eventually advances to third, but Keon Broxton strikes out to strand him.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Three straight singles by Walker, Braun and Shaw net the Brewers a 3-0 lead. Shaw squeaked his under Jordy Mercer’s glove on the shift.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Brewers leave a pair on base as Shaw strikes out and Thames pops out to shallow CF. Jeremy Jeffress coming on for B6.
  • @Todd_Rosiak: Travis Shaw follows Braun with a double, but Eric Thames lines into a 4-6 double play on the shift. Brewers settle for the 1-0 lead.
  • @Haudricourt: #Brewers Travis Shaw talks about having to keep winning and the offense perking up. https://t.co/0wjDSLBHWq
  • @Haudricourt: Travis Shaw with his third RBI hit of the day for #Brewers. They lead 10-3 and he is up to 95 RBI with 13 games remaining.
  • @Haudricourt: Travis Shaw's SF makes it 9-3 in the sixth. That's 94 RBI for Shaw. He set goal before season of 100.
  • @Haudricourt: Very quick reactions by Arcia, who wasn't far away from Shaw when ball caromed to him. Then made strong one-hop throw to Aguilar.
  • @Haudricourt: Unbelievable defensive play by #Brewers. PH Stanton rips wicked grounder off Shaw's glove to Arcia, who throws him out to end 4th.
  • @Haudricourt: Shaw's pop fly drops between three fielders in shallow RC for what will be RBI single. #Brewers lead 6-0 and Peters is done.
  • @Haudricourt: Braun, the ninth batter to bat in inning, is walked intentionally. Shaw will bat twice in fourth.
  • @Haudricourt: Today's #Brewers quiz: Thames and Shaw are third pair of LH hitters with 30 HRs in same season in club history. Name other two pair.
  • @Haudricourt: More Shaw on #Brewers being down 4 with 14 to play: “There’s not much time left. We’ve got to find a way to win as many games as we can."
  • @Haudricourt: #Brewers understand they have very little margin for error now. Travis Shaw: "“We’re running out of time. I think everybody knows that."
  • @Haudricourt: Travis Shaw now has 30 HRs and needs eight more RBI to get to 100 for the season.
  • @Haudricourt: Braun went other way with 3-2 slider and Shaw yanked 0-1 slider to nearly identical spot down RF line.
