DraftKings MLB Lineup Picks (4/9/16): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

Barry Leonard's DraftKings MLB advice - daily fantasy baseball (DFS) lineup picks for 4/9/16. These are the top value and sleeper plays for your MLB DFS lineups.

With the first full weekend of MLB action upon us, there are some great options available for DFS lineups on DraftKings. Many of the teams have cycled through their rotations, meaning that several of the top pitchers will be on the mound today.

15 games are on tap, making the lineup combinations virtually endless. Just watch, since there are start times throughout the day, not all players may be available in the contests you choose to participate in. Another thing to keep an eye on is the weather, as the East will be dealing with cold temperatures and some precipitation.

Below I'll be providing you with some top players to targets for DraftKings lineups on 4/09/16. You'll see a mix of both studs and sleeper picks.

DFS Lineup Stacks to Target on DraftKings

Baltimore Orioles vs. Drew Smyly (LHP)

Smyly was lit up in his first start, giving up five earned runs and three home runs in 6.2 innings of work against the Blue Jays. The Orioles have a loaded lineup in a good hitter's park. Look for big days from the likes of Adam Jones (if in the lineups), Manny Machado, and Mark Trumbo.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Cody Anderson (RHP)

Anderson will be making his first start of the season against a tough Pittsburgh offense. Andrew McCutchen, although a righty, has been tearing the cover off the ball in the early going this season, and has fared quite well against right-handed hitters. Gregory Polanco has also been hitting well and could be in store for a big night against Anderson. Keep an eye on John Jaso as a good sleeper pick.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider on DraftKings

Chris Sale, CHW vs. CLE - $12,100

Several big-name pitchers are on the board tonight, but for the money and matchup, I like Sale as the top option. He looked strong in his first outing of the year, and could once again hit double-digit strikeouts. The fact that Chicago has been playing well, while Cleveland has struggled at the start. Sale should have a good opportunity for a win at home today, so take him with confidence.

Cole Hamels, TEX at LAA - $11,200

Hamels was strong in his first start of the season against Seattle. I like him to carry that performance into tonight's matchup with the Angels. Outside of Mike Trout, there isn't a whole lot to fear in the LA lineup. Hamels could carry a higher ownership tonight, but he still makes for a great start.

DFS Infielders to Consider on DraftKings

Catcher (C)

Francisco Cervelli, PIT vs. CIN - $3,000

The short porch in right is looking pretty on Thursday. Mike Fiers lets up plenty of fly balls, so look for McCann to be among the Yanks that have another good night.

First Base (1B)

Eric Hosmer, KC vs. MIN - $4,100

Despite having a matchup with lefty Tommy Milone, Hosmer makes for a great play tonight. He hit .279 against left-handed pitching a year ago, and will be a big key for the Royals if they hope to repeat as champions.

Second Base (2B)

Joe Panik, SF vs. LAD - $3,100

Okay, so the matchup with Kershaw is terrible. However, don't overlook Panik. The Giants are stacked on offense this year, and Panik hits in a favorable second spot. He doesn't have much experience against LA's ace, going 2-8 in his career. Most fantasy players will likely stay away from Panik in this spot, making him the perfect play for tournaments.

Shortstop (SS)

Jean Segura, ARI vs. CHC - $3,700

So you really can't leave Segura out of your lineup right now. He's absolutely been on fire, and hits in the leadoff spot on a very good Arizona team. His price is unbelievable for the production he's been cranking out, however, it won't stay low forever is he remains hot. The downside to using Segura right now is the fact that everyone you'll be playing against will likely have the same idea.

Third Base (3B)

Manny Machado, BAL vs. TB - $4,300

Machado playing at Camden Yards is always a good thing, especially when the matchup is right. He'll go up against Drew Smyly tonight, who really struggled in his first start. Pay big money for the stud third baseman tonight.

DFS Outfielders to Consider on DraftKings

Mark Trumbo, BAL vs. TB - $3,900

Trumbo has certainly enjoyed his move to Baltimore. Batting in the middle of a potent lineup, Trumbo could be in line for a career year. A favorable matchup tonight will likely raise his ownership, but don't let that deter you.

David Peralta, ARI vs. CHC - $3,700

Arizona is for real this year, and Peralta is one who can be trusted for your DFS lineup. He gets a matchup with a righty tonight and needs to be taken advantage of. He's hitting well and makes for a great play.
