2/27 Combine Buzz and Mock Draft

Combine Buzz

The Combine is underway and will be throughout the weekend and into early next week. Take a look at our player profiles where we will ensure heights and weights are updated along with numbers from the combine and then eventually Pro Days. A full Pro Day list will be published in the coming week after the Combine concludes. Todays we will see and wide receivers so it will be a big day.

Nkemdiche is Candid About Hotel Incident

Robert Nkemdiche addressed the media surrounding his highly publicized hotel incident in Atlanta before the Sugar Bowl. Nkemdiche fell out of a hotel window and was charged with marijuana possession after it was found in his hotel room. Nkemdiche admitted to drinking but also stated he did not partake in any marijuana consumption. In fact, Nkemdiche raised some eyebrows by saying that Laremy Tunsil was one of the teammates with him in the hotel room at the time of the incident. Tunsil looks like the likely #1 overall pick if Tennessee stays at the top of the draft board. Throwing a teammate to the wolves is something that concerns many in attendance at the Combine as well as the general thought that Nkemdiche is still not sharing all of the story Nkemdiche was considered a top ten overall pick before the incident and now likely looks like a late Round 1/early Round 2 prospect.

Jaylon Smith Injury

We stated we would keep you up to date on the status of Notre Dame junior linebacker Jaylon Smith who was injured in his teams Bowl game defeat at the hands of Ohio State. Smith tore his ACL and MCL and now tests show there is nerve damage in the leg. This likely means that the team that selects Smith in the upcoming draft, won;t see him take the field until 2017. With the late injury Smith was still a good bet to be a 1st Round pick (we have had him at the top of Round 2) but now we likely won't hear Jaylon Smith's name called until late during day 2 or even early in day 3. This saga is far from over and we will continue to bring you more news.

How Big is Too Big

Derrick Henry also raised a few eyebrows tipping the scales at 247 pounds. It may be bad timing of the part of Henry after this season the much publicized weight problems of former Crimson Tide running back Eddie Lacy. Lacy topped 1,000 yards his first two seasons in the league but struggled in his third year while being called out by his coach for apparently getting to 265 pounds during the season. Weight will be on some teams minds with Henry but Alabama has always liked their backs bigger.

New Mock

New Mock Draft is in the works....we are up to 13.0 once this is published...more to follow.
