Starting Pitcher Waiver Wire Streamers for Week 25 (Part 2)

We have our first two playoff teams for the postseason and they’re from the same division. In this last week, both the Cardinals and Pirates stamped their tickets for October. The Buccos are a long shot to win the NL Central, but they very well may be the second base team in the National League if not all of baseball. Look for the Royals to punch their tickets this weekend. Next week should also see the Cubs, Mets and Dodgers clinch.

Below are some of my starting pitcher streamer sleepers for the second half of Week 24 to consider adding off your league’s waiver wire.

Some of these SP options can be considered sleepers for your team depending on the league format and depth, including NL-Only, AL-Only and head-to-head formats.

Thursday 9/24 Starting Pitcher Streamers

Patrick Corbin (ARI at LAD) – Ownership: 43% Yahoo!, 21% Fleaflicker

Good luck getting the win against Clayton Kershaw. Corbin should do well in every other category.

Matchup Rating: Risky Stream

Jarred Cosart (MIA v. PHI) – Ownership: 7% Yahoo!, 3% Fleaflicker

Cosart’s 6.05 K/9 rate isn’t terribly high. It should play nicely into his hands on Thursday. The Phillies are a team that typically does not strike out, but does a terrific job of not scoring. Cosart’s 55.7% GB rate will see a nice bump after his next start.

Matchup Rating: Solid Stream

Taylor Jungmann (MIL at STL) – Ownership: 40% Yahoo!, 22% Fleaflicker

Here we go again. Another Taylor Jungmann selection. Even against a solid Cardinals team, I like Jungmann to go six or seven and give up only a handful of hits.

Matchup Rating: Solid Stream

Friday 9/25 Starting Pitcher Streamers

CC Sabathia (NYY v. CWS) – Ownership: 13% Yahoo!, 18% Fleaflicker

The White Sox have been among the worst team this year against left-handed pitchers. Against southpaws, Chicago owns a 75 wRC+ and a .282 wOBA on the season. That ranks second-to-last and last, respectively. Sabathia may have seen better days, but he should get some cozy run support.

Matchup Rating: Risky Stream

Rich Hill (BOS v. BAL) – Ownership: 8% Yahoo!, 2% Fleaflicker

The former top Cub prospect and now 35-year-old veteran has seen a sort of resurrection to his career. In two starts he has gone 14 innings with three earned runs and a whopping 20 strikeouts. Let the good times roll, Mr. Hill

Matchup Rating: Solid Stream

Rubby de la Rosa (ARI at SD) – Ownership: 15% Yahoo!, 17% Fleaflicker

De la Rosa is a guy that has dominated lesser opponents and really struggled against the big boys. No one in their right mind would place the Padres in later. Love de la Rosa’s 18.8% K rate against a Padres team with a 22.6% whiff rate.

Matchup Rating: Risky Stream

Saturday 9/26 Starting Pitcher Streamers

Barry Zito (OAK v. SF) – Ownership: 0% Yahoo!, 1% Fleaflicker

I just really wanted to include his name on this list. Need a reason to stream him? Don’t ask me, ask Barry.

Matchup Rating: Desperate Stream

Tyler Duffey (MIN at DET) – Ownership: 11% Yahoo!, 7% Fleaflicker

Recently the Twins have played about as volatile as nearly every NFL team in the first two weeks of the season. Duffey has ok strikeout potential but his 9.4% BB rate is awfully scary. Even against a team like the Tigers that have clearly quit on the year.

Matchup Rating: Risky Stream

Andrew Heaney (LAA v. SEA) – Ownership: 42% Yahoo!, 20% Fleaflicker

Despite looking from the outside in, the Angels are still in the thick of the playoff hunt and could very well snatch up this second Wild Card berth. Heaney has looked every bit of the ace that the Angels need and should mow down Mariners all day on Saturday.

Matchup Rating: Must Stream

Sunday 9/27 Starting Pitcher Streamers

Matt Andriese (TB at TOR) – Ownership: 0% Yahoo!, 1% Fleaflicker

TBD is making a ton of starts on Sunday so it may be just too early to pick starters for Sunday. Andriese will probably get shelled by that vaunted Toronto offense.

Matchup Rating: Desperate Stream

Randy Wolf (DET v. MIN) – Ownership: 1% Yahoo!, 1% Fleaflicker

There’s no telling which Wolf will show up. There’s also no telling which Twins team will show up. Should be plenty of fireworks on Sunday in Detroit.

Matchup Rating: Risky Stream
