When Will Garrett Wilson Return and Be Back? Fantasy Football Injury Update for Week 10 (2025)

Garrett Wilson - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL DFS Picks

When will Garrett Wilson return and play? Will Garrett Wilson be back again this season? Read the latest Garrett Wilson injury updates and return date for Week 10 (2025).

Garrett Wilson was off to a fast start in 2025, operating as the lead wide receiver with the New York Jets. Wilson was able to maximize a high volume of targets thanks to consistent negative game scripts.

Unfortunately, Wilson suffered a knee injury in Week 6 that brought his momentum to a screeching halt. The injury wasn't considered long-term, but we haven’t seen him play football since that game.

When will Wilson return from his injury? Read below to find out.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Garrett Wilson Injury Update

Wilson was off to a strong start in fantasy in 2025 as the only legitimate pass-catching option in a bad Jets’ offense. Unfortunately, Wilson suffered a knee injury in Week 6’s loss to the Denver Broncos.

The good news for the Jets was that Wilson avoided a major injury and didn’t need to land on the injured reserve. The bad news was that he was still forced to miss the next two games with the hope that he could return after New York’s Week 9 bye.

That plan has come to fruition. Wilson was able to participate in the team’s practices leading into Week 10’s matchup against the Cleveland Browns and on Thursday declared that he would be active for Sunday’s game.

Garrett Wilson Fantasy Football Outlook

Before being injured, Wilson was operating as a top 10 wide receiver in PPR formats thanks to his role as the primary (only?) receiver in the New York Jets offense on a team constantly playing in negative game scripts. From Weeks 1 to 5, Wilson was the WR6 in PPR points per game (19.0). If you include Week 6, where he got injured with 4.3 points (he played most of the game), he is still the WR10 with 16.6 PPG.

Justin Fields has been far from good as the team’s starting quarterback, but he has shown that he can force-feed Wilson in garbage time at the end of games. Wilson averaged 9.3 targets, 6.0 receptions, and 65.7 receiving yards per game with four receiving touchdowns. 34% of his receiving yards and 75% of his touchdowns have come in the fourth quarter of games this year.

That is unlikely to change going forward. The Jets traded away their two most talented players on defense during the trade deadline, taking a bad defense and making it worse. The team will continue to be in passing game scripts, which will continue to lead Wilson to tons of garbage time production.

New York acquired another wide receiver when it traded away cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts (2024 second-round pick Adonai Mitchell), which could cut into some of the target share. Mitchell was buried on the Colts’ depth chart and struggled to make an impact when called upon, but he is clearly the second most talented pass catcher with the Jets.

It will take time for Mitchell to acclimate and build rapport with Fields (or Tyrod Taylor if Fields gets benched), but he does have the talent to earn targets once he is up to speed. Will it be enough to cap Wilson’s fantasy production? Probably not in 2025.

Wilson was a WR1 despite bad quarterback play thanks to a combination of negative game scripts and a lack of target competition. Those things are largely the same coming out of the Jets’ Week 9 bye. There will be tough matchups on the horizon (including a Week 10 matchup against the Browns), but Wilson needs to be treated like a top 12 quarterback until proven otherwise.
