Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 4:
Brock Bowers, TE, Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers (knee) was a full participant in the first practice of Week 4 on Wednesday, according to Ryan McFadden of ESPN. It's the first time that Bowers has practiced in full since suffering a knee injury in the Week 1 win over the New England Patriots.
Although Bowers didn't miss a game with his knee injury, he's gone for only 38 receiving yards in back-to-back games on nine total catches after posting 103 yards on five receptions in the season opener. The second-year tight end also has yet to find the end zone in 2025. The fact that the 22-year-old is back to practicing in full is a good sign, and hopefully, it means he'll be back to TE1 fantasy numbers in an upcoming good matchup in Week 4 against the Chicago Bears' suspect pass defense.
It's also worth noting that Michael Mayer remains in the league's concussion protocol and could sit out this Sunday after injuring his head in Week 3.
David Njoku, TE, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku (knee) practiced in full on Thursday after being limited on Wednesday with a knee injury. By practicing in full on Thursday, Njoku would appear to be trending towards playing in Week 4 against the Detroit Lions.
Njoku has recorded 12 catches for 117 yards on 18 targets through his first three games of 2025. The 29-year-old is still seeing steady playing time, but his target share has been limited due to the emergence of Browns' rookie tight end Harold Fannin Jr.
The veteran tight end profiles outside the top-12 for fantasy at the position in Week 4, and both Browns tight ends are difficult for managers to trust as long as they share the field.
Sam LaPorta, TE, Detroit Lions
Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta was held in check by the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night. LaPorta hauled in all four of his targets for 33 yards during Detroit's 38-30 Week 3 win.
The third-year tight end now has 13 catches for 138 yards on the season and has yet to find the end zone. LaPorta ranks third on the team in targets behind wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and running back Jahmyr Gibbs.
Still, he hasn't been able to translate the target volume into consistent, high-end fantasy production so far in 2025. LaPorta remains a must-start tight end heading into Week 4, but he needs to start earning end zone targets to be a fantasy weapon at the tight end position.
Zach Ertz, TE, Washington Commanders
Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz could be in line for increased usage in Week 4. The veteran has been steady to start his 13th season, catching 12 of 16 targets for 128 yards and two touchdowns.
That role may expand if star wide receiver Terry McLaurin (quad) is forced to miss Sunday's matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. Ertz has a history of success against Atlanta, posting six catches for 72 yards and two touchdowns in last year's meeting.
If McLaurin sits and quarterback Jayden Daniels (knee) returns to the lineup, Ertz would be positioned to have another big week against the Falcons. In that scenario, Ertz moves from a solid streaming option to a must-start fantasy tight end in Week 4.
Kyle Pitts Sr., TE, Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. (toe) returned to a full practice on Thursday after he was limited on Wednesday, according to Tori McElhaney of AtlantaFalcons.com. Pitts was also dealing with a toe injury early last week, but he upgraded to full practice and was able to play in the Week 3 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
The 24-year-old should be good to go as the Falcons look to bounce back in Week 4 against the Washington Commanders' suspect secondary after they were shut out by the Carolina Panthers last Sunday. Pitts has not found the end zone yet in 2025, but he's been consistently involved and has caught 15 of his 19 targets from quarterback Michael Penix Jr. for 135 yards.
He should be considered a low-end TE1/high-end TE2 play for fantasy managers in a matchup against a Commanders defense that has allowed the ninth-most half-PPR points to TEs through three weeks.
