The increased usage of Dowdle in the Panthers' Week 3 victory was entirely game-script dependent. Dowdle's 10 carries for 30 yards and a touchdown were largely granted because the 30-0 blowout allowed the offense to run out the clock and manage Chuba Hubbard's workload. This week, the dynamic reverses; the Panthers travel to face a Patriots defense that ranks second in the league against the run, holding opponents to a mere 2.6 yards per carry. This brutal matchup likely means low rushing production for the entire backfield.
