ANALYSIS: New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave had a disappointing campaign in 2024. The former Ohio State standout appeared in just eight games and tallied a mere 400 yards with just one touchdown. He caught only 32 receptions on 44 targets.
Olave dealt with numerous concussions that significantly impacted his upside. In fact, among the eight games he played in, he logged fewer than 10 snaps in two of them.
However, Olave was able to progress well during training camp and did not enter with any restrictions. According to reports, the former first-round pick did not face any limits and was viewed as a "full-go." During the preseason, Olave slotted in at his typical position, serving as the team's clear WR1.
In their preseason finale, Olave brought in all three of his targets against the Denver Broncos.
Even though the Saints will turn to Spencer Rattler to lead their offense, fantasy managers should not be overly concerned with viewing Olave as a high-end WR3 in all formats in Week 1. When healthy, Olave has been one of the most productive wideouts in the sport. During his first two seasons in the league (2022 and 2023), Olave posted back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns and scored nine total touchdowns.
Facing the Arizona Cardinals in a game the Saints will likely be trailing, Olave carries high-end WR3 upside in all fantasy formats.
