Jesse Winker Continuing to Deal With Back Pain
Jesse Winker (back) started a rehab assignment with Single-A St. Lucie on Wednesday, but he's still dealing with "intermittent back pain." Winker has missed a month and a half with lower-back inflammation, and he'll only return in 2025 if he's able to manage the pain. This may end up as a lost season for Winker, who also missed a large chunk of time earlier in the year with an oblique strain. The 32-year-old has appeared in a meager 26 games and hit .229/.309/.400 with one homer, 10 RBI, and eight runs scored in 81 plate appearances. The Mets have typically gone with either Starling Marte or Mark Vientos at DH in Winker's absence.
