Houston Astros second baseman Brendan Rodgers (head/back) is dealing with lumbar spine inflammation and has been pulled from his rehab assignment. This continues an injury-riddled season for Rodgers, who landed on the 10-day IL on June 18 with an oblique strain and has faced multiple setbacks since then. In his first Triple-A rehab game on July 18, Rodgers suffered a concussion and a nasal fracture. He had been working back from that until this latest issue cropped up. There's no timeline for Rodgers' return, which doesn't bode well with time running out on the regular season. The 29-year-old opened 2025 as the Astros' starting second baseman, but he hit a brutal .191/.266/.278 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 128 plate appearances before his injury woes began.--Connor Byrne
