Fantasy Baseball Injury Report - Updates for Corbin Carroll, Chris Sale, Adley Rutschman, Bryce Harper, Yordan Alvarez, Sean Manaea, Chris Sale, Cole Ragans

Chris Sale - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Dr. Reuven Guy's fantasy baseball injury report for Week 13 (2025). Read the latest injury updates for Corbin Carroll, Chris Sale, Adley Rutschman, Bryce Harper, Yordan Alvarez, Sean Manaea, Chris Sale, Cole Ragans

School is out, summer is here, and the weather has surely let us know that. Just as the weather heats up, so do our fantasy baseball standings. This is the time of year when a lot of us go on vacations, and sometimes our fantasy teams could take a back seat. If your team is in contention, this is not the time of year to let off the gas.

When playing in fantasy leagues, paying attention to pickups and drops is sometimes easier to do during the months not named July and August. We all try to win our leagues, but we also have lives to live. The time we spend watching the waiver wire could determine how well we do in the league. A way to look ahead is to know how long injured players could be out. Knowing this could help your team and help you anticipate when injured players are due to return, if at all. I will continue to give updates and highlight fantasy-relevant players who are injured and try to give a good estimate of when those players will return to help your fantasy teams.

Here's a little about myself for both new and returning readers. My name is Reuven Guy, and I am a practicing orthopedic/pain management physician assistant. I have been dealing with sports injuries for the past 19+ years. Therefore, I have knowledge of orthopedic injuries and their recovery times based on my medical experience. I also played fantasy baseball during that time. This has helped me get an advantage in this aspect of fantasy baseball, which I hope to share with you. I am also the co-host of the 2025 FSWA award-winning podcast "Beat the Shift." Injured Hitters for Fantasy Baseball

Bryce Harper (1B, PHI)- Wrist

Harper was placed on the IL this week with right wrist inflammation. Harper went through his pregame routine this week and could be activated from the IL as early as this weekend.

Tyler O'Neill (OF, BAL)- Shoulder

O’Neill is on the IL with left shoulder soreness. He is on a rehab assignment at Triple-A and could be activated from the IL next week.

Corbin Carroll (OF, ARI)- Wrist

Carroll is on the IL with a left wrist fracture from a hit by pitch. There is no timetable for his return, which could take four to six weeks, depending on the severity of the break. Jake McCarthy and Randal Grichuk should see more time in the Arizona outfield.

Alex Bregman- (3B, BOS)- Quadriceps

Bregman is on the IL with a right quad strain. He has recently begun baseball activities (swinging and fielding) but remains without a timeline for a return. It is thought that he is likely out through the All-Star break.

Royce Lewis (3B, MIN)- Hamstring

Lewis landed back on the IL with a left hamstring strain. He is going through a running progression and is still about two weeks away from a return from the IL.

Yordan Alvarez (OF, HOU)- Hand

Alvarez is on the IL with right-hand inflammation. He has begun hitting off a tee and is going through a hitting progression. Alvarez will still need a rehab assignment and is about three weeks away from a return from the IL.

Anthony Santander (OF, TOR)- Shoulder

Santander was placed on the IL with left shoulder inflammation. He has been cleared to throw but not hit yet. Santander should be able to return by the second week in July, barring any setbacks.

Gabriel Moreno (C, ARI)- Finger

Moreno was diagnosed with a hairline fracture in his right pointer finger and is on the IL. It was first called a contusion, as a fracture can take five to seven days to show up on testing. Based on this injury, he could be out for about three to four weeks. Jose Herrera and Aramis Garcia will see more playing time with Moreno out.

Adley Rutschman (C, BAL)- Oblique

Rutschman is on the IL with a mild left oblique strain. Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino said this week that Rutschman is expected to remain on the IL through the All-Star break. Gary Sanchez has been seeing more playing time with Rutschman out.

Jorge Soler (DH, LAA)- Back

Soler was placed on the IL this week with back soreness. The severity of the injury is not yet known. The earliest he is eligible to return would be on June 30.

Miguel Amaya (C, CHC)- Oblique

Amaya is on the IL with a left oblique strain. He has begun a hitting program, and manager Craig Counsell said that the Cubs expect Amaya to return around the All-Star break.

Keibert Ruiz (C, WAS)- Head

Ruiz is on the IL after getting hit in the head with a foul ball and suffering a head contusion. The severity is not yet known. Riley Adams and Drew Millas will see more time at catcher for the Nationals.

Jorge Mateo (SS, BAL)- Elbow

Mateo is on the IL with left elbow inflammation. He has begun a rehab assignment and is expected to return from the IL within approximately two weeks.

Luke Keaschall (2B, MIN)- Forearm

Keaschall is on the IL, recovering from a right forearm fracture. He has begun hitting off a tee but still has a while to go before being able to be activated from the IL, earliest July 18

Jesse Winker (OF, NYM)- Oblique

Winker is on the 60-day IL with an oblique strain. He is now on track for a rehab assignment by this weekend and a possible activation from the IL next week.

Matt Chapman (3B, SF)- Hand

Chapman is on the IL with a sprained right hand and wrist. He is no longer wearing a splint and has been swinging one-handed so far. The Giants are hopeful for him to return before the All-Star break.

Daulton Varsho (OF, TOR)- Hamstring

Varsho is on the IL with a Grade 1 strain of the left hamstring. He recently began a running progression again after a setback and is now about two weeks away from a return from the IL.

Noelvi Marte (3B, CIN)- Oblique

Marte is on the IL with an oblique strain. Marte has had his rehab moved to Double-A this week and could be back from the IL next week.

Jordan Walker (OF, STL)- Appendix

Walker went on the IL this week due to appendicitis. He will need surgery, and in prior players who had this procedure, being out for about a month is possible.

Garrett Mitchell (OF, MIL)- Oblique

Mitchell has been on the IL with a left oblique strain for the past few weeks. He is deciding on a second shoulder surgery as an MRI showed anchors from the prior surgery have dislodged (come loose). There is no timeline for his return.

Ivan Herrera (C, STL)- Hamstring

Herrera has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 strain of the left hamstring. He is expected to miss anywhere between two and six weeks, likely closer to the latter. Yohel Pozo and Pedro Pages will fill in at catcher while Alec Burleson, Nolan Gorman, Thomas Saggese, and Willson Contreras are candidates to see increased work at the designated hitter position.

Shea Langeliers (C, ATH)- Oblique

Langeliers is on the IL with a left oblique strain. He has begun a rehab assignment, and his return to the IL should be within a week, barring any setbacks.

Austin Hays (OF, CIN)- Foot

Hays is on the IL with a foot contusion. He is on a rehab assignment and could be activated off the IL as early as this weekend.

Jake Burger (1B, TEX)- Oblique

Burger was placed on the IL this past weekend with a left oblique strain. The severity is not yet known. Justin Foscue was called up to take his spot on the major league roster.

 Yoan Moncada (3B, LAA)- Knee

Moncada is on the IL with right knee inflammation. He is still having pain in his knee, and Moncada is frustrated by his slow progress. There is no timeline for his return.

Ha-Seong Kim (SS, TB)- Shoulder

Kim is recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. His rehab was restarted, and he could be activated to make his season debut next week.

Injured Starting Pitchers for Fantasy Baseball

Cole Ragans (SP, KC)- Shoulder

Ragans landed on the IL this week with a left rotator cuff strain. An MRI showed a strain, and the second opinion on his injured shoulder confirmed this. He is shut down until next week and will then be reevaluated.

Tyler Glasnow (SP, LAD)- Shoulder

Glasnow left his last start and was placed on the IL due to right shoulder inflammation. Glasnow has thrown two innings in a rehab assignment and could be a little over two weeks away from a return from the IL.

Nathan Eovaldi (SP, TEX)- Elbow

Eovaldi was placed on the IL with right posterior elbow (triceps) inflammation. Eovaldi has progressed and could return to the Rangers rotation this weekend.

Kodai Senga (SP, NYM)- Hamstring

Senga is on the IL with a Grade 1 sprain of his right hamstring. He has thrown off the mound already but is not expected back until after the All-Star break.

Chris Sale (SP, ATL)- Ribs

Sale was placed on the IL this week with fractured ribs on the left side of his ribcage. There is no timeline for his return; however, an injury like this could last for a month or two. Didier Fuentes has been filling in for the Braves.

Sean Manaea (SP, NYM)- Oblique/Elbow

Manaea continues to recover from an oblique strain. This past week, he was also diagnosed with loose bodies in his pitching elbow. He received a cortisone shot and is expected to get back on his rehab assignment in a few days.

Blake Snell (SP, LAD)- Shoulder

Snell is on the IL with left shoulder discomfort. He has thrown a bullpen session but remains a few weeks away from being activated from the IL.

Lance McCullers Jr. (SP, HOU)- Foot

McCullers is on the IL with a right foot sprain. He has been playing catch, but there is no clear timeline for his return yet.

Max Meyer (SP, MIA)- Hip

Meyer landed on the IL due to a left hip impingement. He is scheduled to have hip surgery and is done for the year.

Francis was placed on the IL with right shoulder impingement. He has been shut down, and there is no timeline for his return.

Matthews is on the IL with a right shoulder strain. He has been playing catch but is out until at least after the All-Star break.

Olson was placed on the IL with right ring finger inflammation. He will need one more rehab start and should be back in the rotation by next week.

Woodruff continues to rehab from shoulder surgery last year and is on the IL. He could need only one more rehab start and be activated from the IL next week.

Hunter Dobbins (SP, BOS)- Elbow

Dobbins was placed on the IL with a right elbow strain. The severity is not yet known. Richard Fitts was called up and should take his place in the Red Sox rotation.

Ryan Yarbrough (SP, NYY)- Oblique

Kutter Crawford (SP, BOS)- Wrist

Crawford will be having right wrist surgery that will “most likely” knock him out for the rest of the year. He began the year on the IL with a right knee injury. The exact nature of the wrist surgery is not clear yet.

Luis Gil (SP, NYY)- Lat

Gil has been on the IL with a lat strain since early this year. Gil is now aiming for a late July return.
