Dynasty Fantasy Football Running Back Rankings: Top 3 Rookie RBs Outlooks (2025)

The NFL offseason is one of the more exciting times for fantasy football dynasty managers. Several teams in your league will be looking to upgrade their roster, and more trades happen at this time of the year. With the 2025 NFL Draft just weeks away and rookie drafts happening shortly after, it's the best time to look at where potential rookies will rank in dynasty. 

In this article, we will rank the dynasty values of Ashton Jeanty, Omarion Hampton, and TreVeyon Henderson before April's draft. Although each of these running backs' dynasty rankings could change once we find out their landing spots, we can still project their dynasty values based on where they might go in the draft.

Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State

Jeanty will enter the 2025 NFL Draft as the clear RB1 in this class. The Boise State running back ran for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns in his final college season and finished as the runner-up in the Heisman voting. His 2,601 yards also ranked second all-time in FBS history, trailing only Barry Sanders' 2,628 rush yards back in 1988.

It was a truly historic college season for Jeanty. He helped lead the Broncos to the College Football Playoff and is an extremely tough runner. Therefore, it's hard to see him being selected outside the top 15 in the upcoming draft. That makes him a top dynasty running back already. He is just 21 years old and could be a strong dynasty asset for the next decade. 

Now, where Jeanty lands won't necessarily hurt his dynasty ranking. He will already be a top dynasty running back based on where he is projected to go in the draft. The Boise State product has been linked to the Las Vegas Raiders at No. 6, the Chicago Bears at No. 10, and the Dallas Cowboys at No. 12. In all three spots, he would be a strong fantasy option from Day 1. 

As a result, the Florida native is a top-3 dynasty running back already. He won't turn 22 until December, and there's a strong chance he will be a top-10 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The only two running backs who dynasty managers should want over him right now are Jahmyr Gibbs and Bijan Robinson. There's a case for both Saquon Barkley and De'Von Achane as well, but Jeanty's age gives him the edge. 

Omarion Hampton, RB, North Carolina

There has been a lot of buzz surrounding Hampton in recent weeks. That buzz has catapulted him into being a potential first-round pick in April's draft. The North Carolina product ran for over 1,500 yards in each of his final two college seasons and scored 33 total touchdowns in those two years. 

For any running-back-needy team, Hampton will be a strong pick in the draft. He is an above-average runner and has the tools to be a bruiser-type back in the league. The Tar Heel forced 73 missed tackles in 2024 and had the second-most yards after contact (1,222 yards) in FBS in his final college season. So, there's a good chance he goes somewhere in the first round.

Hampton will not be selected above Jeanty in the draft, but he could come off the board soon after. His most common landing spot in mock drafts has been with the Denver Broncos at pick No. 20. That seems like a good fit for the North Carolina product, considering Denver needs an RB1 on its roster. Other analysts have also mocked him to the Bears at No. 10, the Cowboys at No. 12, and the Steelers at No. 21. 

If Hampton goes as a first-round pick, it will be hard to rank him outside the top 10 in dynasty at the running back position. He just turned 22 and has a fantastic shot to be a starter immediately in the NFL. Where he winds up going in the draft could affect his dynasty ranking a little bit. However, he should almost certainly be the second overall pick in rookie drafts this summer. 

TreVeyon Henderson, RB, Ohio State

Like Hampton, Henderson has slowly seen his draft stock rise over the past few weeks. After being ranked outside the top 60 at the beginning of February, the Ohio State running back is now ranked inside the top 45 on most sites. ESPN even has him ranked as the 31st overall prospect in this year's draft class. So, dynasty managers should expect the young back to be taken early in the 2025 NFL Draft. 

He ran for 1,061 yards and 10 touchdowns in his final college season and averaged 7.1 yards per carry. Despite splitting the backfield with Quinshon Judkins last season, Henderson still made the most of his 144 rush attempts. Both his athleticism and speed were on display with the Buckeyes in 2024, and if that translates to the NFL, he could be a strong three-down back.

While we likely won't see Henderson selected in the first round, he will almost certainly be taken early in the second round. The Browns (No. 33), Raiders (No. 37), Bears (No. 39 or No. 41), and Cowboys (No. 44) could all be in on the Ohio State product on Day 2. That potential draft spot will make him an appealing dynasty asset in rookie drafts. 

He doesn't turn 23 until October and has the talent to be a strong fantasy option for the next seven to eight years. Given that Henderson will probably be the third running back selected in April's draft, he will be a solid selection in rookie drafts. His age and early draft capital make him a top-14 dynasty running back right now.
