Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir (ankle) has been one of the best value picks of 2024 fantasy football drafts so far. He's been the de-facto WR1 for the team and still leads all Bills WRs in targets despite missing Week 5. He's caught 18 passes on 19 targets for 230 yards and two touchdowns.
Few receivers in the league have hands as good as Shakir does, and he seems to have magnets attached to them. It makes perfect sense that his quarterback, Josh Allen, trusts him the most as the team's lead receiving option.
Unfortunately, the third-year pro has been injured and hasn't played since Week 4. When will Khalil Shakir return and be back for the Bills?

Khalil Shakir Injury Update
The Bills' top receiver worked off to the side of practice, running through a few releases and doing some warm-up drills, but wasn't able to participate in the practice session on Wednesday. You can see for yourself how he looks below. It's difficult to tell for sure, but he seemed to struggle with the work he was trying to do.

It's unclear how much time it will take to heal, but it doesn't look great. Managers should prepare for another absence in Week 6, as this wasn't a veteran's rest day. Shakir could play, but if he's not able to run proper routes at full speed on a Wednesday, it seems like an uphill battle to play. His game is on Monday, though, so the extra day will help, but waiting for MNF players can be tough for fantasy.
Khalil Shakir Fantasy Football Outlook
Shakir is a solid WR3/FLEX option in Week 6. Though Buffalo offensive coordinator Joe Brady runs a run-heavy offense, he still has a great quarterback, and Shakir has broken double-digit PPR fantasy points in all four of his games. His low target volume is concerning, though, and could produce some bust games as a result.

Considering the ineffectiveness of the team's other wide receivers, though, it seems like Shakir could get more targets going forward. He's certainly earned them, so it wouldn't be surprising if his role in the offense increases. He's a solid start in your FLEX spot when healthy and has WR2 upside.
