MarShawn Lloyd is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for running backs. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season.
BALLER MOVE: Must Add in All Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 26% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Green Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd is a potential game-changer at running back that you can get for free in most leagues. His hamstring injury scared many managers off, but starting Packers RB Josh Jacobs was horribly inefficient for most of the Packers Week 1 game.
Jacobs had a big dip in efficiency in 2023 and looked terrible for most of the season. His fantasy value was only salvaged by huge volume, and after Jacobs went down, Raiders RB Zamir White took over and produced arguably better than Jacobs. This should be a huge red flag on its own, but Jacobs' inefficiency really stunk.
Josh Jacobs was THE MOST inefficient running back in the league in 2023⤵️
👎-40.5 EPA (#142)
👎2.89 Yards Created Per Touch (#50)
👎2.1% Breakaway Run Rate (#48)But…he faced the highest average Defenders in the Box (7.2)👀

It's generally not a good idea to bank on inefficient running backs to continue to receive workhorse volume. Another crucial point is that Lloyd was basically the opposite of Jacobs in 2023. Jacobs hardly forces missed tackles and is one of the least elusive backs in the NFL. Not true for Lloyd.

While Jacobs was given a hefty contract in the 2024 offseason, the Packers have an easy out after one year, so he's not even a solid bet to be on the team in 2025. Pick up Lloyd while you can. If he gets healthy, he could be dynamite in Matt LaFleur's excellent run game scheme.
