When Is Jake Ferguson Coming Back - Fantasy Football Injury Return Update

Jake Ferguson - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL News

When is Jake Ferguson coming back? Will Jake Ferguson play again this season? Read about Jake Ferguson's return date and injury updates for 2024.

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson looked solid in Week 1 as he recorded three catches on five targets for 15 yards until he suffered a knee injury against the Browns early in the game.

Unfortunately, the 25-year-old is expected to miss some extended time and will not return for at least a little while. Fantasy managers are surely wondering when the tight end will return.

When is Ferguson coming back to action? What is his fantasy football outlook when he returns? Let's dive in.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Jake Ferguson Injury Update for Fantasy Football

Ferguson (knee) has been diagnosed with an MCL sprain and bone bruise in his knee after suffering this injury during Sunday's afternoon game against the Cleveland Browns.

Ferguson’s MCL sprain seems to be on the milder side, considering the Cowboys are still keeping him in the conversation for a potential return in Week 2. That said, it's still more realistic to expect the starting tight end to miss some time as he recovers.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network has labeled Ferguson as week-to-week. Even with the more optimistic recovery timelines for MCL injuries, it's typically advised that players rest for at least two weeks.

Fantasy managers should expect Ferguson to miss two to four weeks as he tries to recover quickly.

Jake Ferguson Fantasy Football Outlook

When Ferguson returns, he will remain a must-start for fantasy managers. Even if he's not 100% healthy, he should have top-10 TE upside in the high-power Cowboys offense.

While he's out, Brandin Cooks and backup tight end Luke Schoonmaker appear to be the players who could benefit the most from Dak Prescott's offense.

Ferguson's fantasy managers will have to try to survive in his absence. When he returns, he will be a stable tight end that can be inserted into your lineup immediately.
