Hello, RotoBallers, and welcome to our hitter's advanced metrics leaders article for Week 24 of the 2024 fantasy baseball season! Today, we will be taking a look at players like Giancarlo Stanton, Spencer Torkelson, Corbin Carroll, and more. As another week of baseball wraps up, I will recap which hitters had the most impactful plate appearances in the past few days.

For the first 11 weeks of the season, we discussed Statcast's Barrels per Plate Appearance stat, or Brls/PA%, but now we can transition. The weekly leaderboard for Brls/PA% has primarily stabilized, so now we can shift our focus towards Barrel Percentage in the last seven days.

Statcast's Barrel Percentage stat, or Barrel%, works by dividing the total number of barrels by the number of batted ball events within the given period. The higher the Barrel%, the more often the hitter makes ideal contact with the baseball. By narrowing our range, we can zero in on the players who have made the best and worst contact within the past week. We will also examine other stats, but the Barrel% will be the main focus of this piece. This week's leaderboard king is New York Yankees designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton. Stanton is still at the top, so let's see what he did this week.

The Yankees star hit six barrels this week in 16 batted balls, good for a 37.5% Barrel rate in his last 26 plate appearances. The 34-year-old slashed .292/.346/.667 with two home runs, three runs scored, and five RBI.

His impressive week has brought his season slash line up to .244/.303/.497 with 24 home runs. As we enter the final month of the regular season, Stanton has already matched his home run total from last season.

The Yankees slugger is doing what he has always done throughout his career by impacting the ball harder than just about anybody. Stanton should continue being the dominant ball masher he has always been while maintaining a high strikeout rate.

Taking the second spot on this week's leaderboard is Detroit Tigers first baseman Spencer Torkelson. Torkelson finished the week with a 33.3% Barrel% on 15 batted balls, so let's see what his Statcast profile looks like.

Despite having a solid week at the plate, Torkelson's profile leaves much to be desired. His best stat is his 83rd-percentile chase rate of 23.0%. It's nice that he isn't chasing a bunch of pitches out of the strike zone, but ideally, you would see more red.

The 25-year-old slashed .321/.367/.679 with three home runs, five runs scored, and seven RBI in the past week. Torkelson also recorded a 43.3% strikeout over his last 30 plate appearances.

It's nice to see the young slugger put up good counting stats over the week, but his high strikeout rate shows how volatile he can be from week to week. Unfortunately, Torkelson is not a reliable fantasy option.

It's time to discuss reigning National League Rookie of the Year Corbin Carroll. The 24-year-old got off to an abysmal start to the season, so let's see if he can turn it around.

The first thing that stands out when looking at Carroll's profile is that he is below average in nearly the entire top half of Statcast stats. Despite his relatively unattractive profile now, it looked dramatically worse to begin the year.

Over the past month, Carroll slashed .288/.353/.692 with 11 home runs, 32 runs scored, and 25 RBI. Carroll slashed .202/.267/.337 with one home run in May. He has raised his level of play as the season has progressed.

Carroll's value is not quite where it was when he set the world on fire last season, but the young Diamondbacks hitter is working his way back up the ranks.

Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene had an interesting week at the dish. He finished the week at ninth on the leaderboard, so we should take a closer look.

In the past seven days, Greene has 15 batted balls that he turned into four barrels, good for a 26.7% barrel rate on the week. Despite his good Barrel percentage and high max exit velocity of 114.0 mph, Greene's slash line was not quite as impressive.

Greene slashed .185/.267/.407 with two home runs, four runs scored, and three RBI over the last 30 plate appearances. Despite his relatively poor performance this past week, there are reasons to be optimistic about him going forward.

Greene's Statcast page is bright red in nearly every category except his whiff and strikeout rates. Take his down week at the plate as an opportunity to buy low if your league's trade deadline has yet to pass.

The last hitter I want to highlight is Yordan Alvarez. The Houston Astros outfielder has been on yet another tear this past week, so let's take a closer look.

Over the past week, Alvarez slashed .444/.500/1.000 with five home runs, six runs scored, and six RBI. Alvarez also had matching 10.0% walk and strikeout rates over his past 30 plate appearances.

The 27-year-old is among baseball's best hitters and should continue to be for the rest of the season and for seasons to come.
