Cole Kmet's fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 14 (2023). Our advice on whether you should start or sit Cole Kmet for fantasy lineups.
BALLER MOVE: Start in 10+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: TE1
ANALYSIS: Tight end Cole Kmet’s team target share of 19.7% is second-best on the Chicago Bears and puts him in the top ten in the league at his position. His 28.2% share of the Bears’ red zone targets is behind only David Njoku among active tight ends. On Sunday, Chicago faces the Detroit Lions who have allowed six touchdowns to opposing tight ends and have one of the worst red zone defenses in the league.
When the Bears last met the Lions in Week 11, Kmet was held to three catches for 20 yards. That result was discouraging but in the following game, he connected with quarterback Josh Fields seven times for a modest 43 receiving yards. In PPR formats, his 11.3 fantasy points were good for a top-ten finish among tight ends.
On the season, Kmet has 56 receptions for 482 yards and five touchdowns. The yardage may be modest, but he is tied for the league's fifth-most receptions among tight ends. His 68 targets are seventh-best in the league, to boot. Despite his poor showing in his last game against Detroit, he will still be operating as Fields’ second read against a leaky red zone defense. This gives Kmet a good chance at finding the end zone and finishing Week 14 as a TE1.
