BREAKING: Jonathan Taylor will undergo thumb surgery tomorrow in LA with the hope that he can return in 2-3 weeks, #Colts owner Jim Irsay tells @TheAthletic. https://t.co/pJDoeGZ9CS

No specific details on Taylor's thumb injury have been made available, but Colts owner Jim Irsay has confirmed that his star running back will undergo a procedure and likely miss multiple weeks. Indianapolis has not yet made a decision about placing Taylor on Injured Reserve, a move that would keep him out at least four games.
Taylor is coming off a two-TD performance in the Colts' Week 12 win over Tampa Bay and has earned workhorse-type volume in recent weeks. We can expect Indy's Zack Moss to take over the lead role in Taylor's absence. Moss had some shining moments earlier in the season while Taylor was on IR with an ankle injury and he catapults into RB2 fantasy territory in Taylor's absence.
It's another brutal blow for Taylor's fantasy managers, who have endured multiple missed games already this season. They have little choice but to stash the stud RB on their benches and hope he can return for the fantasy playoffs.
