Romeo Doubs' fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 12 (2023). Our advice on whether you should start or sit Romeo Doubs for fantasy lineups.
BALLER MOVE: Start in 14+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR3
ANALYSIS: The young Green Bay Packers offense led by QB Jordan Love took a step in the right direction in Week 11 when they secured a 23-20 win against the Los Angeles Chargers at home.
WR Romeo Doubs has been a helpful target for Love, as he reeled in five of his six targets for 53 yards and the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter. Doubs has led the Packers pass-catchers in targets this season with 65.
Unfortunately for fantasy managers, they now go from playing against one of the worst secondaries in the league in Los Angeles to a more formidable one on Thanksgiving Day in the Detroit Lions.
The Lions have allowed 223.5 passing yards per game this season, putting them right in the middle of the league at 16th. Their secondary hasn’t stood quite as firm in their last two games, allowing WR DJ Moore to go for 96 yards and a touchdown in Week 11, and allowing WR Keenan Allen to go for 175 yards and two touchdowns in Week 10.
The Packers also find themselves with a flooded injury report ahead of Thursday’s matchup. Starting TE Luke Musgrave (abdomen) was just placed on IR, RB Aaron Jones (knee) has been ruled out, and WR Dontayvion Wicks (concussion/knee) is questionable for the game. The widespread injuries on offense may result in increased volume for Doubs in the matchup.
Doubs has been the designated red zone target for Green Bay so far this season with 14 total targets inside of the 20-yard line. This has him tied for fifth in red zone usage amongst WRs this season. He also has seven total touchdowns to go with it, which has him tied for third-most this season, trailing only WR Tyreek Hill and WR Courtland Sutton.
The second-year man makes a solid case for a start in deeper leagues with his high-end red zone usage and touchdown-scoring abilities. With that in mind, Doubs' overall target share and target volume do not provide him with a safe enough floor to be started in smaller leagues.
