Michael Mayer Looking To Improve In Week 9
12 months agoLas Vegas Raiders tight end Michael Mayer had one catch on two targets for 19 yards in the Week 8 loss to the Detroit Lions. Mayer's fantasy stock appeared to be rising before the Raiders offense collapsed on Monday night. The Raiders face the New York Giants in Week 9. The Giants have been one of the tougher matchups for tight ends, but there is reason for optimism. After the Raiders cleaned house this week, rookie quarterback Aidan O'Connell will be the starter. O'Connell may not be as accurate as Garoppolo, but he will likely take more risks and push the ball further downfield. With bigger plays on the table, the Raiders offense should improve. Mayer may not be a reliable start in fantasy this week due to the uncertainty of his role in the offense, but more clarity should be provided after the Week 9 contest. Mayer is a strong stash in leagues where he is available.
