Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Breakout CFB Performances From Week 7 (2023)

Mike Marteny takes a look at 2023 breakout collegiate stars that will be available in your fantasy football dynasty drafts within the next year or two. Who shined in Week 7 of the 2023 season?

We had another fun weekend of college football. We had some performances that you had to see to believe. I can say that about every week. Colorado blew a 29-0 halftime lead to Stanford before we even got to Saturday! Grayson McCall turned back the clock to 2020. Georgia won but lost Brock Bowers. A Jeff Brohm team choked again after a top-10 win. Just your normal week!

We are going to help you get acclimated with these college players earlier than many of your fantasy football league mates. We here at RotoBaller are all about giving you an advantage.

I will highlight one quarterback, one running back, one wide receiver, and one tight end every week of the college season that put up some really big numbers. I'll let you know what it means for your dynasty leagues. Do these guys have NFL futures? You'll find out!

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Quarterbacks

Jason Bean, Kansas (23-34, 410 yards, 5 TD, 2 INT) at Oklahoma State

This isn't the last you'll see from this game. It was full of dynamic individual performances. Bean got the call with Jalon Daniels still having back issues. He answered the call with the best performance of his college career. Was it a fluke?

This was Bean's team before Daniels showed up. Bean stuck around so he could learn from Lance Leipold and his staff. That turned out to be a good decision. Bean's completion percentage has gone up every season and he has cut down on interceptions.

At 6'3", Bean has the height that NFL scouts drool over, but at 195 pounds, scouts wonder if he can take hits at the next level and bounce back. He doesn't have the coveted arm strength either. As of now, this performance feels like an outlier. We have seen Bean excel in a game manager role before, but he has never taken a game over like this. Kansas still lost, but you can't blame Bean.

Honorable mention: Shedeur Sanders, Colorado; Tyler Van Dyke, Miami; Josh Hoover, TCU

Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Running Backs

Ollie Gordon, Oklahoma State (29 carries, 168 yards, TD; 6 receptions, 116 yards, TD) vs. Kansas

It looks like Mike Gundy has been holding out on us. Gordon split carries with Elijah Collins and Jaden Nixon in the first three games. If Gundy has any sense at all, there won't be any more splits in this backfield. Kansas is by no means a great defense, but they aren't terrible either. Gordon made them look like it here.

At 6'1" and 211 pounds, Gordon has the size that NFL teams love. He is also a good receiver out of the backfield and has shown good elusiveness so far. Pass protection is his weakest skill, and it's still not a negative. The NFL doesn't use workhorse backs anymore, but if they make a comeback, Gordon could help usher it in. He's a beast!

Honorable mention: Ashton Jeanty, Boise State; Omarion Hampton, North Carolina; Leshon Williams, Iowa

Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Wide Receivers

Elic Ayomanor, Stanford (13 receptions, 294 yards, 3 TD) at Colorado

The Cardinal were down 29-0 at halftime in Boulder last week when Stanford finally found the answer. Ayomanor didn't even have a catch in the first half. All of those numbers were piled up in the second half and overtime of Stanford's thrilling victory to kick off a wild weekend.

At 6'2" and 210 pounds, you can see why Colorado had trouble covering him, even with Travis Hunter. Ayomanor has the size to not be pushed around by NFL corners. He has really good hands and can move after the catch. Ayomanor will need to work on route running, but he has time. I want to see how he does against a good defense before I say that he's an NFL starter, but this game was a step in the right direction.

Honorable mention: Devontez Walker, North Carolina; Kelly Akharaiyi, UTEP; Ricky Pearsall, Florida

Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Tight Ends

Colston Loveland, Michigan (3 receptions, 80 yards, TD) vs. Indiana

College football fans lost both Brock Bowers and Erick All to injuries this week, so TE might be a little thinner. The first to take advantage is Loveland. Cade McNamara left the Big House for Iowa and took his tight end (All) with him. Both are now injured. The Michigan offense relies on a good tight end. Loveland has finally stepped up.

The 6'5", 245-pound sophomore from Idaho has worked his way into a prominent role for Michigan. He's a brute when it comes to blocking, which is something the NFL still covets. He has good hands as well and is tough to bring down. He's not going to wow you with his 40 times, but early returns on Loveland are promising.

Honorable mention: Dominick Mazotti, San Jose State
