Wide Receiver Matchups to Target in Week 6: DJ Moore, Jakobi Meyers, Jordan Addison, Marquise Brown, Curtis Samuel

Dan's favorite WR vs. CB matchups to exploit for Week 6 of 2023 - DFS wide receivers to target on DraftKings & FanDuel. These WR/CB matchups are GPP and cash game sleepers.

Week 5 saw dominating performances from familiar faces including Tyreek Hill, Ja'Marr Chase, and Stefon Diggs. It also saw continued success for surprising veterans like DJ Moore and Adam Thielen. 

The Week 6 DFS main slate brings more opportunity for low-cost, high-upside receivers to fill out lineups. With Justin Jefferson on IR and injury question marks surrounding other top-priced receivers like Amon-Ra St. Brown and Mike Evans, expect the remaining top receiving options to have high ownership in cash and tournament contests. Finding receiver value will be a key to top-performing lineups this week.

Each week we use matchup data from PFF to determine wide receivers to target based on who they will be primarily lining up against that week. Below are five top WR vs. CB matchups for this week’s DFS main slate. Use these to set season-long lineups, make player prop picks, and gain an edge in DFS.

DJ Moore, Chicago Bears

$6,500 on DraftKings, $8,000 on FanDuel; vs. Akayleb Evans

DJ Moore enters Week 6 as the hottest receiver in the league after back-to-back top-five performances at the position. Moore has totaled 16 catches on 19 targets for 361 yards and four touchdowns over the last two weeks, as good a two-week stretch as we have seen in the NFL.

Next up for Moore and the Bears is a matchup with the Minnesota Vikings, the second-best matchup for WRs according to PFF. With Moore lining up as the X receiver along the left side of the offense 53% of the time, he will match up most often with Vikings corner Akayleb Evans, who historically sticks to the right side of the defense. Moore’s 87.1 PFF offensive grade ranks fourth among receivers well above Evans’ 68.0 defensive grade. 

The former first-round pick has the 16th most costly salary among main slate receivers despite his high floor and enormous ceiling. Start Moore with confidence this week.

Jakobi Meyers, Las Vegas Raiders

$5,800 on DraftKings, $6,700 on FanDuel; vs. Jonathan Jones, J.C. Jackson

Jakobi Meyers has been impressive to start the year, particularly from a PPR perspective where he ranks 21st among receivers after five weeks. Meyers will be looking for his third top-10 finish this week against the lowly Patriots, who enter the week as the sixth-best matchup for receivers according to PFF.

New England has been outscored 72-3 in its last two games. The Patriots have played man coverage at a top-10 rate this season which will favor both Meyers and fellow Raiders receiver Davante Adams - the tandem are both within the top 28 receivers in fantasy points per route run against man coverage. Look for Meyers to be a target vacuum against his former team this Sunday.

Jordan Addison, Minnesota Vikings

$5,700 on DraftKings, $6,700 on FanDuel; vs. Tyrique Stevenson

Jordan Addison and the Vikings match up with a Bears secondary in Week 6 missing two of their top corners and both starting safeties. Minnesota is not without their injury woes after star receiver Justin Jefferson was put on IR this week with a hamstring injury, leaving Addison and K.J. Osborn as the starting receivers beginning this week.

The 2023 first-round receiver will be able to command a heavy volume this week. Chicago ranks as the number-two easiest matchup for receivers according to PFF. With those aforementioned injuries to the secondary, the Bears are missing the size and speed in the backend to keep pace with Addison.

His primary matchup is likely to come against CB Tyrique Stevenson, a below-average defensive back. Among 59 eligible cornerbacks, Stevenson ranks outside the top 40 this season in catch rate allowed (74.1%), yards allowed per coverage snap (1.49), and explosive pass plays allowed rate (3.0%) per PFF.

Marquise Brown, Arizona Cardinals

$5,300 on DraftKings, $7,000 on FanDuel; vs. Derion Kendrick

Marquise Brown has been a bright spot in an otherwise pedestrian offense so far in 2023, ranking as the WR13 in PPR after five weeks. Brown has yet to finish in the top 12 any given week despite finishing top 24 in Weeks 2-5 consecutively.

That could change this week against the Rams in a matchup with the highest point total of the slate at 48.5. The Rams defense has lined up in zone coverage at a top-10 rate this season despite having the lowest team zone-coverage grade (42.0) in the NFL through five weeks according to PFF.

Brown will continue to command a large target share (10 targets in three of five games this year). If he can increase his subpar 59.5% catch rate this week, a top-12 performance is in his range of outcomes.

Curtis Samuel, Washington Commanders

$3,700 on DraftKings, $6,200 on FanDuel; vs. Dee Alford

One of the GPP top dart throws of the week is Commanders slot receiver Curtis Samuel, who enters Week 6 as the WR35 in PPR. The former second-round pick is the 48th receiver in salary this week on DraftKings despite scoring a touchdown in two consecutive games and ranking as the WR10 over the last two weeks.

Washington has a matchup with the Falcons this week. Atlanta deploys an above-average amount of man coverage which bodes well for Samuel - the 27-year-old leads his team in fantasy points per route run against man (0.49) and is tied for the team lead in receiving grade versus man (70.7) according to PFF.

Use Samuel in larger tournament contests this week to free up salary for the rest of your roster.
